The first gun magazines were started in 1892 by a group of men who wanted to create a place for people to gather and share information about firearms. The first magazine was called the Rifleman and it was published monthly. In 1915, the Bellaire Riflemen’s Club started publication of its own journal, The Rifleman. Bellaire is a small town in the Texas Panhandle. It was founded in 1881 as a trading post on the Comanche River. The post office was moved to Bellaire from Fort Worth in 1907. In 1955, Bellaire incorporated and became an unincorporated community. The population of Bellaire peaked at around 3,000 in the 1960s, but has fallen since then. The town is named for Major General John C. bell who served with distinction during the Mexican-American War and later as Commandant of Camp Bowie, which stood on the north side of the Comanche River. Today only a few remains of these buildings remain; they are nowcomponent parts of the nearby Goliad High School campus. In 1881, when Bellaire was founded, it consisted of just a few tents and huts surrounded by Indian cornfields stretching to the southward for miles. There were no schools or churches in those days, so citizens brought their children to school every day until lunchtime before going back home to help tend their fields or trade goods with their Indian neighbors. The first postmaster general was Wm Halsey Smith who arrived in late October 1870 from Wichita Falls and served until early May 1871 when he joined his brother Colonel James Halsey Smith at Fort Worth where he stayed until 1872 when he returned home sickly after attending a military review at San Antonio de Bexar (now Austin). From here he took over responsibility for Postmasters Department at Fort Worth where he remained until his death on November 10th 1865 aged 54 years old following two campaigns with Mexican forces against American forces near present day Midland City, TX . After his death General James Halsey Smith succeeded him as First Postmaster General of Navarro County Kansas Territory serving until September 28th 1886 when Ulysses S Grant assumed command due to health concerns caused by yellow fever pandemic sweeping across much of America at that time including Ft Worth . It is interesting to note that both William Halsey Smith (1867-1951) and Ulysses S Grant (1845-1924) were natives of Kansas Territory prior to their service as US Postmastersgeneral - an event which would not have been possible had it not been for statehood issues facing those lands during Reconstruction following America’s Civil War weeks later...Now 95% African Americans according to Census 2010

Bell as a marketing center for their cattle ranching business in what is now eastern Willacy County and parts of Tarrant County (now Fort Worth). The original town plat included five blocks long and one block wide, with three streets running north-south and two streets running east-west; it consisted of only two houses and a few barns on its square mile site. In 1907, the U.S. Treasury Department purchased the cattle ranching business from Lucius W. Bell's father; by that time, John C.'s grandson Harry had taken over the operation as well In 1916, Harry established a branch office of Western Union Telegraph Company in Bellaire to serve customers serving ranches west of Interstate 10 near Wichita Falls In 1929, Harry built a depot on Armistead Drive for the local Grain Valley Railroad company which he sold to Texas Road Transport Co., Incorporated in 1932 The post office moved to its present location on Sawyer Boulevard in 1954 from an old boxcars used by Texaco at milepost 263 along I-10 near Wichita Falls . A new bell tower was erected within two years of incorporation as part ofenhancement campaign funded by oil exploration interests led by Clint Murchison Sr.. The first mayor during annexation was Fenton Easley who served until 1959 when incumbent William Humble took office . Humble unsuccessfully ran for reelection in 1960 before being succeeded by Orville Neuman who served until 1966 .. After Neuman left office following term expiration he was succeeded by James Southerland who also failed to win re-election thus becoming Belaire's first Mayor effective January 1st 1967 . On November 3rd 1967 Raymond Lamar came into power through special election after James Southerland resigned due to health reasons
