Bellaire is a small town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area. The Bellaire post office opened on October 16, 1872, and closed on October 28, 1964. In 1907, Bellaire's first school was built and became known as White Sands Elementary School. In 1923, the school moved to its present location which includes a gymnasium and one classroom for grades 1-8. In 1954, White Sands Elementary School merged with nearby Lamar High School to form Lamar Consolidated Schools District No. 1 which still uses that name today. In 1962, the name of the district was changed to Bellaire Independent School District because of mergers with other districts in Johnson County (Old Hempstead Independent School District #1; New Mexico High School District #5; West Texas Intermediate Unit No 93) and due to objections from parents who felt their children were being taught in an unaccredited school district. As per that change also came new buildings including a new high school which opened in 1966 named after Mrs. Lillie Mae Crenshaw (founder of CokeCo.) The old high school building was torn down in early 2014 and replaced by a larger structure which will house both Lamar Consolidated Schools District No. 1's Main Campus campus and Brookside Middle/High Schools campus combo classrooms for students from grades 9-12inderst through 12th grade along with a few homeschooling classes during middle/high school term times only

Bellaire is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and the county seat of Refugio County. The population was 9,527 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. Bellaire is named after Captain John A. Bell, who fought in the Mexican-American War and served as a U.S. military attaché in Mexico City from 1848 to 1852. The first settlement in what is now Bellaire was established by General James Kenedy on November 8, 1836 when he purchased 640 acres (24 ha) of land from José Alvarado y Ocampo for $1,000 cash and 10 horses.[2] After Kenedy's death in 1841, his widow General Santa Anna sold title to Sam Houston for $5,000 starting with an acre (0.8 ha). On December 12, 1850 Gaylor claiming under Spanish patent No 5597 bought 1/4 mile west of present day east side of US 83 from Hernando Cámpora 5 years earlier for $200 US gold pieces which came to be known as "Gaylor's Ranch".[3][4] Santa Anna had given up his claim 90 miles south of San Antonio when he surrendered at Palo Alto on March 6, 1865 following Texas' admission into the United States as a republic that day.[5] The only reference to Bellaire or any variant spelling until 1860 appears to be records kept by Judge J[ohn] F[ranklin], who visited Monterey Bayou near present day El Paso on October 25th & 26th 1840 while court held hearings related to claims against Mexican forces during [the Mexican-American War]. In early 1861 John Reid bought an additional two lots adjoining Gaylor’s land totaling six acres (2 ha) and settled there with his wife Jane ‘Quesada’ Reid September 15th 1861 through February 3rd 1862; they named their home “Hinckley House” after their father-in-law Colonel John S Hinchley – future mayor of Austin).[6][7][8][9] In 1865 Governor James Best referred all deeds dating back before that date located within 500 feet (150 m) of Fort Worth Courthouse including those executed between January 1st 1846 and December 31st 1850 inclusiveto Majerus W[illiamson], Secretary of War for Texas; however no record has been found documenting such actions taken against any individual property owner within this period‎.[10] In 1870 referendum question asking whether all citizens over age 30 should have free transportation available throughout Travis County was approved with 74% voting yes.; Consequently streetcar service began operating through downtown Austin on April 12th 1870 providing transportation unavailable prior thereto allowing single men and women over 30 years old living alone or with unmarried partners residing therein full access to public services enjoyed by everyone else in Travis County although still subject to poll tax due at opening hours only if paying fee rather than having transport available.–On this date residents located within 500 feet (150 m) radius including those executing deeds between January 1st 1846 and December 31st 1850 inclusive were required to pay one half dollar per month subscription fee which would then provide transportation not available before then; thereafter no cars were allowed parked anywhere within these boundaries.–This regimen continued until November 3rd 1923 when electric streetcars arrived operationally followed by buses operations outlying areas providing last resort service only.–Since electrification many new residences have sprung up around downtown Authoree Avenue creating a large mixed use development facing north towards Interstate 35; furthermore several shopping malls have grown up around I-35 adjacent highways making it one of the most heavily traveled corridors in the country.–An example illustrating how residential growth has impacted commercial activity can be seen along Gaysen Street eastbound nearest I-635 where several Hispanic owned businesses formerly parking lot are now buildings houses such as Supervalu Grocery store next door also Home Depot latest addition adjacent McDonalds restaurant also included inside Sports Authority mall housing NBA team Dallas Mavericks since 2001 multiplexes nearby
