The history of Beeville, Texas is a long and complex one. The city was founded in 1876 by cattlemen who named their new town after their favorite pastime, hunting deer. Over time, the city grew and changed hands several times. In 1925, Beeville became an independent municipality, and in 1937 it adopted its current name – “Beeville” – based on the town’s location on the banks of the Brazos River. Beville has had a significant role in American history. It was here that General George Custer died during his battle with General Sioux Chief Crazy Horse in 1876. It also served as the temporary capital of Texas during World War II until Austin arrived to take over that role. In 1951, Beeville again became an independent municipality when it merged with neighbouring Fort Worth. Today, Beeville is a vibrant community with a rich cultural heritage which attracts people from all over the United States and around the world. In 1859, Beeville residents voted to incorporate as a town. The first mayor and council were elected in 1861. The town was named for General James Beeville, who fought in the Mexican-American War. In 1876, Beeville experienced its first tornado when a storm warning was published in the local newspaper.
Beeville, Texas is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas located in Midland County. The population was 1,746 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The foundation date of Beeville is not known but it likely dates back to 1836 when James Bowie settled there on a farmstead which he named "Beville". In 1864, J.D. Beall founded and operated a sawmill in Beeville which produced lumber for the local townspeople and also exported logs to other parts of America. By 1886, the name had been changed to "Beville" after John Cavanaugh, Collector of Customs for Midland County at that time. In 1901, Rev Elisha Walker organized what became known as The Baptist Church in Beeville with Reverend Auld serving as its first pastor; it was one of the first churches established in Midland County outside Dallas or Houston. After World War II ended, many people left Beeville for new opportunities elsewhere but some have returned over time including Harry Weems who served as Mayor from 1978-1981 and remains an active civic leader today In 2000, Beville won the title of "Best Place To Raise A Family." That same year saw several major advancements throughout its community including construction of two schools - Stonington Elementary School and Tower Heights Intermediate School - both opened in 2002 following plans by then Superintendent Driscoll himself In 2008, Driscoll announced that he would be leaving his position effective July 1st after more than 25 years with the school district; during his tenure development plans totaling $183 million were made to improve all aspects of education within our communities including expanding enrollment at three high schools (Stonington*, Tower Heights*), creating new elementary school campuses (Red River Middle/High School* & Creekview Elementary/Middle School*) as well as acquiring land parcels northward from I-35W for future housing developments – making us one of America's most aggressive school districts when it comes to community engagement Now under Superintendent Tom Hennessey’s leadership “We Are All Devoted To Excellence” has become our Schools District mantra and we are committed to providing top quality educational experiences for each and every student within our boundaries

It is part of the El Paso-Juarez-El Centro, TX Metropolitan Statistical Area. BEEVILLE HISTORY Beeville was founded in 1879 by John Beeville and his family. The first post office was established in 1881. In 1907, Beeville became an independent city and has continued to grow since then. Today, beeville is home to many businesses and residents who are proud of their roots in the community. Some notable members of the community include Mayor Donny Hilliard, former Mayor Rick Wojak, Superintendent of Schools Casey McCarthy and United Way President Connie Paez. John Beeville immigrated from Ireland in 1829 with his wife Catharine (née McNamara). They settled on a ranch near present-day Beeville and began farming crops that they grew themselves as well as raising livestock including cows, pigs, horses and hogs. In 1881, John decided to move his family westward for economic reasons after hearing about agricultural opportunities available in California’s Central Valley due to new technology developed there by American farmers! He arrived at San Antonio on November 17th with his family and set up shop on what would become known as “The Prairie” – land that today still houses some of BEEVILLE’S MANY BUSINESSES INCLUDING A GAS STATION AND A REPAIR SHOP! JOHN & CATHARINE BEGAN WORKING FROM THEIR HOME IN APPLETON until JOHN GOT THE BUSINESS PUBLICLY ESTABLISHED IN 1904! THEY THEN FOUND NEW LAND TO MAKE MORE OF THEIR PRODUCTS! WORLDWIDE NOTICE OF THEIR PRODUCTS ARRIVED WHEN JOHNNY BEGAN MERCHANDISE DIRECTLY FROM IRELAND TO AMERICA!! THEY REALLY STARTED TO SPEAK OUT ABOUT THEIR GOOD SELLINGS WHEN THEY ENTERTAINED AMERICAN BOYS AT A CONCERT IN SAN ANTONIO BACK IN 1913!!! BY THE TIME OF JOE KEATINGE'S ELECTION AS MAYOR IN 1966 BEEVILLE WAS OVER 100 YEAR Old!!!! ALL THESE EVENTS HAVE DONE SO MUCH FOR OUR COMMUNITY OVER THE LAST CENTURY !! TODAY THERE ARE MORE THAN 2dozen BUSINESSES OPERATING HEREIN WITH AN ADDITIONAL TENANT COMING FROM OUT OF STATE EVERY DAY !! On October 3rd 1880 Joseph Keatinge became mayor of San Antonio after being elected Sheriff of Bexar County four years earlier! Keatinge had been born into a horse handler's family in Galveston but determined to make something out of himself he studied law at local public school before moving to San Antonio where he met Catharine McNamara (born 1840). The two married on October 10th 1880 at St Andrews Presbyterian Church while Joseph served as best man! Their first child was born just one day later on October 13th 1880 named Annie Elizabeth Keatinge (née McNamara)! AfterCatharine gave birth to their second child they moved into their own house which finally came onto the market in 1888 when property owner George Brown acquired it for $1 million dollars!!!!!
