Beeville is a small town located in Carroll County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,851 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. Beeville is bordered to the north by Oak Cliff and to the east by Plano. The first settler in what would become Beeville was Tom Smith who arrived in 1836 from Illinois. He named his new community after himself, beeville (a word meaning "bewildered"). The early residents were largely farmers and their principal crop was cotton. By 1860, when Beeville incorporated as a village, its population had grown to 350 people. In 1886, John Haney started a flour mill in Beeville which soon became one of the largest mills in Texas and one of the leading flourproducing centers in America. In 1914, Haney passed away leaving his company to his son-in-law Harry Waugh who continued operations until 1986 when it merged with Peet's Coffee Company and changed its name to Jamba Juice Corporation. Until World War II there was little industry within Beeville but during that time several large companies such as Boeing and Texaco established their plants here including Kaiser Aluminum Company (now Alcoa) which built an aluminum smelting plant on White Sands Boulevard near Uptown Boulevard in 1961; Continental Rubber Products Incorporated opened a rubber manufacturing plant on Elm Street just east of I-635; Gulf Oil Corporation constructed an oil refinery on White Sands Boulevard adjacent to Jamba Juice Corporation's plant; Circle K convenience store opened up next door to Gulf Oil Corporation's oil refinery; ChevronTexaco erected an office building for itself on West Street near I-635; Pioneer Missile Technology Environmental Management Laboratory opened up adjacent to ChevronTexaco's Office Building #2 on October 4th 1984.; ExxonMobil laid down gas wells nearby while they were still under construction creating Lake Texoma (); Shell Chemical Co., LP installed two pipelines carrying water directly from underground storage springs beneath Loop #1 Avenue across county lines into McLennan County ()
