Beeville, Texas is a small town in the Wichita County of Texas, United States. The population was 5,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town is located in east-central Wichita County and has a total area of . The early history of Beeville can be traced back to 1839 when the land that now makes up the town was purchased from Jesse Hogg by John Denton. Denton named his new land "Beeville" after himself and his brother-in-law, James Beecher. In 1851, two years after he had purchase the land from Jesse Hogg, John Denton erected a log cabin on what is now Main Street in Beeville. This initial pioneer community operated for about a year before it too eventually fell apart due to lack of resources and commerce between its members. In 1861, Beeville became one of five towns incorporated within Wichita County as it rapidly grew during this time period as a result of frontier development. However, despite its growth and incorporation into Wichita County, little development took place in Beeville until around 1915 when A L Forrest developed substantial acreage adjacent to town limits which later became known as Forrest Park home to many local businesses such as oil well drilling rigs used by Texaco Incorporated before they merged with Shell Oil Company in 1978. In 1924 - just prior to World War II - ownership passed from Forrest Park Corporation to Eastern Paint & Rubber Co., Incorporated which then donated their property (later renamed Forrest Park Golf Course) adjacent to Main Street for use as a public golf course for residents and visitors alike; this event marked an important milestone for the community which would soon become known as one of East Texas' most popular tourist destinations along with Mount Pleasant TX & Waco TX among others due in no small part to its beautiful country landscape characterized by rolling hillsides covered with native oak trees 15 minutes away by car or less! It wasn't until 1990 when Beeville first saw significant commercial development take hold with the opening of KFC's original restaurant on FM 1960 across from main park; since then much progress has been made throughout retail plaza redevelopment including construction/overhauls/rehabilitation/opening numerous new restaurants totaling more than 20 over 10 years plus several major expansion projects including an extensive remodel & rebirth of main park baseball diamond complete with brand new outfield fences (& grandstand), renovating all 3 existing fitness courts (including 2 newly branded “Golf Clinics”), installation of state-of-the art LED lighting systems throughout all buildings (even Main Street Commons bowling alley underwent refurbishment recently completed addition includes updated amenities including high definition video viewing kiosks), etc... making today's version "the 21st century" incarnation of what once was!
