Bullets in Beeville, Texas have a long and proud history. The first bullets found in this area were shot from rifles dating back to the 1830s. By 1854, pistols had become the primary Weapon of Choice for many residents in Beeville. That same year, the first rifle range was opened up in Beeville and continued to operate until it closed in 1924. During World War I, Beeville experienced some of its most significant events. On September 16th, 1916, Confederate Soldiers killed 6 people at a hotel near town square after they infiltrated the building with intent on harming citizens. This event is still considered one of the deadliest shootings in Texas history. In 1927, Beeville pulled itself out of prohibition and became an open-air alcohol market place once again. With that change came increased violence and crime rates which impacted many aspects of life for both residents and businesses alike. In 1941 however, World War II began and soon blood flowed through streets once again as soldiers fought for their country all over the world. Bulletuchy returned to normal by 1945 but it was not without cost; 117 civilians were killed during that time period as result of gunfire incidents throughout Beeville alone! By 1850, Beeville had over 1,000 residents and was considered one of the most important cities in Texas. The city experienced some major setbacks during the decades following World War II. However, it has since regained its former glory as a commercial and cultural center within Texas and across North America.
Beeville is a town in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 4,873 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lubbock, TX Metropolitan Statistical Area. Beeville is located on the Bluebonnet River and has a humid subtropical climate. The first permanent settler in Beeville was Wm. Gentry who purchased land east of present day Beeville from the Comanche Nation on July 6, 1836. The townsite was named after General James Fenton's cavalry unit which had been quartered there during the Mexican-American War. A post office called Beeville was established in 1839, and remained in operation until it closed in 1902. Beeville experienced rapid growth following its incorporation as a town on April 1, 1907 by an act of the Texas Legislature under Governor John Connally whose goal it was to provide more infrastructure for what would become one of Lubbock's most populous areas with over 100,000 residents by 1910. By 1920 there were over 300 businesses and 2 schools within what became known as "theBeville Belt." As oil exploration activities increased throughout North America during the 1930s and 1940s, many Houston companies moved their operations to be near refineries along Interstate 30 which connected Texas with Mexico City and other parts of Latin America through Caracas and Buenos Aires; this added further impetus to Beeville's growth as a commercial center not just for locals but also tourists who flocked to see these sites while living within walking distance of all that had potential significance economically or culturally (and often still does). Today much of downtown Beevilles historical architecture is still preserved including several hotels dating back to before World War I such as White Sands Hotel (1911), Globe Hotel (1920), or Ambassador Hotel & Casino (1931). Additionally several museums are located within walking distance including Art Institute of Houston - Museum Of Fine Arts (1973), Amon Carter Museum Of American History (2005), Baylor University - McLennan Library(2006) or Dallas County Historical Research Center(2008).
