Beeville, Texas is a town in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1884 by John Beeville and his wife Fannie. The town has been named for John Beeville many times: first for him and then for his father-in-law, James Clements Beeville. The current name honors both John Beeville and James Clements Beeville Sr., who were both killed in World War II. Beeville began as a small community on the banks of the Trinity River north of San Antonio. In 1906 it became a city with a government and services provided by two newspapers: "the Times" and "the Gazette". A post office opened in 1907 and continued operation until it closed in 1934. In 1916 there were only five residents; by 1924 there were over 200; by 1930 there were nearly 400; by 1935 there were more than 500 people living in Beeville proper and another hundred or so scattered around its outskirts. By 1940, with the war raging throughout much of America, only 100 people remained in town proper while 2,000 people lived dispersed throughout Hidalgo County altogether. After VE Day (8 May 1945), when Japan surrendered unconditionally following their atomic bombing of Hiroshima/ Nagasaki, all but 10 residents left to face occupation forces which had arrived since early morning that day at what would become known as Camp Bowie outside of town limits - an event which forever changed not just local demographics but also social fabric within what would later be termed “Beavilles” themselves...By 1951 the population had shrunk to 350 still living primarily off subsistence farming techniques with no modern amenities available to them save for one large school house which served grades Pre-K through 12th gradeinderry on three acres...For most of these years little or no progress was made towards upgrading education or infrastructure beyond basic needs such as water connections & power service improvements necessary for today’s businesses...In 1957 Mayor Jens Wesselink recommended annexation into neighboring Round Rock because he saw great potential for growth within our small community despite some major problems faced already by citizens including lack of public transportation & limited access to open land

Beeville is a small town in Webb County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Abilene-Edinburg, TX Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1881 by John Beeville and his family. Beeville grew rapidly due to the railroadroads that were built through the area in the early 20th century. In 1928, the town had a population of 2,500 and it reached 5,000 in 1951. The growth of Beeville slowed after World War II as more people went into other cities or left for economic reasons. However, it has continued to grow since then as more people have moved into the area and businesses have been opened up in Beeville. The first post office was established in 1881 by John Beeville Jr., with A.K. Ellsworth serving as first clerk/administrator. The original store building still stands today on Main Street in downtown Beeville close to where John Sr.'s home once stood (now a historic museum). The store burned down on July 4th, 1888 but was rebuilt soon afterwards and reopened under new management which included his son-in-law Wm Henson who served as firstPostmaster from 1901 until his death in 1933 This store also became known for its "lady's man" service which involved sending women customers' mail instead of men's mail because women were not allowed to open male mail at that time Mr Henson also ran one of Texas' largest grocery stores called Empire Grocery Company from its inception until he sold it to Kroger Incorporated in 1961 After John Sr.'s death however - Mrs Ellsworth took over operations until her death two years later It can be said that Mrs Ellsworth played an important role during both pre-World War II times while her husband did not and she remains popularly regarded as "the lady behind the scenes" even though she never actively involvement herself with day-to-day operations . During her time however - most significant changes occurred within what would come to be known as "Mrs E." 's Store including; opening of vaulted ceilings (1912), addition of several large advertising posters windows throughout each floor starting around 1914 (replacing window panesills) along with numerous new pieces such as door handles made from drift wood or rattan found locally among old farmhouses . Also during this time period another prominent local resident notably Dr Fenton became very active being president of Webb County Medical Society , director of public bandstand & Odd Fellows Hall prior thereto & many other notable community interests . Finally following Mrs E.'s untimely passing some years later local residents formed their own Ladies Club which met monthly at First Presbyterian Church until disbanded circa 1978 when church membership switched over to Minute Men branch effective January 1st following year's reformation thereupon In spite of these various changes some basic functions including hours & location remain unchanged thruout most recent incarnation thru incorporation date 1990 Although annexation by Dallas Township followed suit circa 1971 but affiliation currently remains unconfirmed
