Bedford is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas, located in Willacy County. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. Bedford is the county seat of Willacy County and home to the Bedford-Jones Regional Airport. The town was platted in 1881, and was named for General John Bedford (1786-1855), an officer in the Mexican–American War and governor of Coahuila and Nuevo Mexico.
