The history of ammunition in Bedford, Texas dates back to the early 1800s. The town was founded by a group of settlers who came across the Rio Grande in 1827. They named the settlement after a local mountain, which they believed was sacred. In fact, the peak of Mount Bedloe was located in town and is still visible today. During the Mexican-American War, Bedford served as a garrison town for General Antonio López de Santa Anna. Ammunition production began here in 1846 and continued until 1865. During that time, Bedford employed up to 100 people at its arsenal. In 1898, Bedford became an independent city and ended its dependence on Austin for municipal services. This led to increased production at the munitions factory here as well as new jobs for locals. Ammunition sales totaled $2 million during 1908-1910, making it one of Texas’ largest businesses. With World War I looming large, demand for ammunition skyrocketing, and Austin unable to keep up with demand (due to population growth), munitions manufacturers shifted their operations out of Austin and into Bedfordshire in 1916-1917. Today remnants of this past industry can be seen throughout downtown Bedfordtown – including an old armory building that now houses Water Street Bakery & Coffeehouse! Ammunition production dwindled during World War II due to hard times overseas but nevertheless continued into 1946 when war ended with Japan’s surrender “peaceably” via congressional mandate – marking America’s first victory over an enemy within our own country since Pearl Harbor! Ammunition manufacturing resumed shortly thereafter with American Inc., headquartered here from 1949 through 1957 before moving again to Dalton, Ohio where it remains today (though privately owned).

In 1951, Bedford became a city when it joined Austin as a result of the merger of Hudspeth and Travis counties into one state. The population growth that followed has led to many new businesses being established within the borders of Bedford including Ford dealership, Lowe's Home Hardware store, KFC (now Chick-fil-A), Pizza Hut, Cinemark theater and more today.

The town's first store opened in 1889 and its first post office was established in 1890. In 1907, the townsite was annexed by Wichita Falls and became part of that city's municipality. However, Fenton refused to give up his land for annexation and continued to own most of the town until his death in 1951. In 1928, Wichita Falls annexed Bedford again and renamed it after him as well as adding an "e" to its name for good measure (a common practice at this time). In 1930-1931, during the Great Depression, Bedford experienced significant growth thanks to heavy interest from farmers looking for ways to get their crops out into production during difficult economic times. As a result of this boom period, new homes were built along with businesses such as a grocery store, bank accountants', doctor's office and lumberyard. During World War II many citizens served in military service or worked odd jobs nearby related to munitions production; these individuals helped contribute substantially to GDP growth during that time frame After World War II ended there was some consolidation within local housing communities which led to increased traffic congestion around main streets leading into downtown Wichita Falls due to all of the new houses being built since then! Due largely to improved transportation infrastructure projects completed over those years—including I-35W bypass south of town—the use of Bedford roads has declined while downtown Wichita falls has become increasingly automobile-based with few options other than walking or biking available unless you're lucky enough find an apartment on one side or avenue only! One thing has not changed though: people coming hereto work are always welcomed regardless of age or social standing!
