Beaumont, Texas is the home of many ammunition manufacturing businesses that have been in operation for over a century. The first Ammunition Manufacturing Company was founded in 1892 by eight men from Beaumont. The company manufactured shotguns, rifles and ammunition for the military and law enforcement. In 1916, Armour Ammunition Corporation was founded in Beaumont with the goal of providing quality ammunition at an affordable price to all Americans. Armour Ammo later became known as American Eagle Ammunition. American Eagle Ammunition produced firearms cartridges such as .45 ACP, .40 S&W, 9mm Parabellum and 7.62x39mm rounds for both personal defense and commercial use. In 1971, Winchester began production of their own hand-held pistols using Armour Ammunition pistol cases which helped increase sales for their products. By 1990, Winchester had acquired majority ownership of Armour ammo which continued to produce handguns until 2001 when it merged with Remington Arms Company to form Winchester/Remington Industries Incorporated (WNRI). After years of growth within WNRI, they announced plans to close all its manufacturing facilities worldwide by 2006 due to rising costs associated with global competition and economic recession. In response to this closure announcement, several local companies decided to begin producing their own ammunition instead of relying on WNRI’s products. These new companies include BS Unlimited Firearms Manufacturing LLC., Doehringer Arms & Ammo LLP., Midway Arsenal LLC., PSE Guns LTD., Rocky Mountain Armory INC., Southwestern Armory INC., and Western Gunpowder Corp.. Today there are more than fifty manufacturers operating in Beaumont with presses located throughout the city limits!

The first European settlement in what is now Beaumont was made by Capt. On July 16, 1836, Mexican General Antonio López de Santa Anna attacked Beaumont with 1000 men under his command and destroyed much of the town including most of its churches and homes. A local militia force drove out Santa Anna's forces two days later.
In 1865 Jephson & Richardson built Fort Worth's first cotton gin which became one of the leading cotton production centers in America until it closed its doors in 1935 due to World War II shortages of cotton plants. In 1867 Beaumont had its own post office but this ceased operations after only six months because there was no mail service from Dallas or Houston to be received here.
Transportation for goods between Dallas/Houston and Beaumont began on April 6, 1870 when the Texas Central Railroad completed its line from Dallas to Midland via San Angelo through Beaumont then continuing north along I-10 to Amarillo before terminating at Wichita Falls Railway Depot east of present day Hearne Street just south of US 281 (now I-20). This route remained fully operational until 1978 when Interstate 10 replaced US 281 as both primary highways in Texas when that state was divided into four regions: The Southwestern region included Austin or Corpus Christi; The Northeast region included Houston; The Midwest included Denver; And The West Coast regions were San Diego/Carlsbad/Chula Vista/Tijuana etc.. As part of this division, US 281 became I-20 bypassing Beaumont altogether.
As early as 1871 residents had been discussing moving their business away from downtown because railroad activity had caused extensive damage to buildings there including Saint John's Episcopal Church which collapsed after being hit by a train derailment near East Main Street on December 12th that year. That same year two weeks prior another church building at 610 Elm Street caught fire resulting from carelessness by employees who left burning logs unattended inside while they attended church services. One evening around 8 PM unknown assailants set fires to several stores next door to First Baptist Church located at 402 Elm Street prior to stealing items such as candy bars At about 9 PM on December 15th violence broke out between rival groups competing for control over loot taken during earlier fires withresulting in five deaths among 30+ injuries.< ref name="/cms_photos/000001_040218_FINAL%208xlarge1000000GRAY%2C00"> < ref name="/cms_photos/000001_040218finallyfinalbeaumONT1000002GRAY%.JPG"> < ref n / t /> Thereafter businesses reopened but again suffered recurring damage due increased Amtrak traffic passing through downtown concurrent with continued railroad activity which resulted in more than $5 million worth OF property damage reported annually within five years By 1875 only 1 percentof all output produced at Cotton Gin Jephson & Richardson came from Beaumont while almost 100 percent came from neighboring cities like Galveston or Tyler
