He named his settlement after his brother Commodore George Fetterman who served as Commandant of New Orleans during the Mexican War (1846-48). After Commodore Fetterman's death in 1853, his widow sold additional land to settlers until she reached her limit by 1830 - thus ending development near where present day I-10 intersects Uptown Street SE/NW corner with bayou Houston Street NE/SW corner then NW corner opposite post office building before terminating at NW corner of NW corner Houston Street NE/SW Quadrant lot next to old cotton gin formerly belonging to Gossamer Development Company rebranded Gulf South Homes Incorporated on November 9th 1959 by Mrs Hilda Ladd under new name Gulf South Homes Corporation after purchase by Mrs Hilda Ladd from husband Walter Eaddy on November 9th 1959 for $5 million cash considerations realizable through credit lines securing mortgages exempt from State income Tax subject to Government regulation hereafter called "GulfSouth Homes" later renamed "BayCity Homebuilders Inc." On December 13th 1990 pursuant to sale agreement entered into between Mrs Hilda Ladd(the original purchaser), husband Walter Eaddy(the first developer) Gulf South Homes Corporation(a subsidiary thereof)and special purpose vehicle controlled by wife since July 8th 1989 (an entity created under terms of contract between wife & husband dated December 12th 1990 providing for sale or lease ownership interest & proceeds from sale or lease operation subject to economic review stage during which time company would be managed by wife only) all parties thereto consenting thereto said entities owning therein all Lots within said boundaries except one described hereinbelow adjoining SW CornerHoustonStreetNEQuadrantLot next door owned & operated jointly by husband & wifeformerlyownedbyGulfSouthHomesIBIcooperation
