The gun industry had only just begun to take off in America when Balch Springs became its center due to its location on the Arkansas River upstream from Memphis, Tennessee and Nashville, Tennessee (then called “the music capital of the world”). Gunmakers quickly responded to local demand for their products due to Frontier Rifle Company’s success marketing handguns through mail order service before opening their own stores on Main Street near City Hall between 1865-1867 (later renamed State Street). By 1870, there were over 60 gunstores operating throughout Tennessee withGunsmith & Tool Worksbeing one of the fastest growing businesses at that time. In addition to pistols and rifles, Gunsmith also manufactured shotguns and sporting rifles including both single-action revolvers (SARs) and semi-automatic pistols such as Colts etc… In November 1899 – just three months after prohibition began – G W Goodwin opened his second store on Commerce Street which would serve as an important hub for contraband trade until 1924 when it was shut down by law enforcement authorities following raids conducted by Roy Beaney Sr., Superintendent of Public Instruction at that time

In 1907, the name of the town was changed to Fairfield after Fairfield County, Iowa. In 1916, the community moved from Fairfield to its current location on FM 3603. Today's agricultural production comes primarily from corn, wheat, cottonseed oilseed (canola), hay fever pills and other products used for feedstock or processed into items like ethanol or plastics; however rice has also been grown hereabouts over time as well The original courthouse which stands today on Main Street served as court house until 1935 when Judge Sallie Henson replaced her with Justice Wm Hogg who had earlier presided over circuit court proceedings at that site for many years prior thereto In addition to courthouse activity there were several schools operated by local churches throughout those years before closure or conversion into housing sometime around 1978 including Bearden High School which closed due to lack of students while Stroud Intermediate School operated from 1948-1978 until it too closed because too few students could be found to maintain it Other notable buildings/ structures that have come down across time include Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church which still stands today along US Highway 59 just south of IH40; this building housed what may have been one of the earliest grocery stores west of Interstate 20 upon its opening in 1905 though no evidence exists demonstrating this beyond conjecture; indeed if true then it would make sense as early grocery store closures can often be tied directly back to economic conditions during an era where purchasing power within smaller communities varied greatly according to location - something that certainly seems prevalent now given how hyperlocalized retail environments have become more commonplace everywhere these days ; furthermore even more curious is why a church would remain standing even though most rural communities give up their religious institutions quite easily enough once their populations dwindle below certain thresholds ; finally there’s also Jack McCoy’s Custom House which stood prominently along US Highway 59 north of IH 40 for most+ years until demolition very recently revealing inside what appear to be pre-1917 plan sketches for an ambitious project called “Avenue Freeway Boulevard” totaling some 102 feet long & wide x 38 feet deep featuring twin tracks running perpendicular alignment between two retention walls built about 25 feet above mean high water mark near crest containing future Zimmerman Creek flowing under roadway providing overflow storage capacity features 2 large gas ovens capable cooking dozens if not hundredsof people at once while using only minimal floor space & 8 foot ceilings all told probably worth $1 million dollars circa1950s
