Azle, Texas is a small town located in the northeast corner of San Antonio County, Texas. It was founded by Hernando de Soto in 1836 and named after General Santa Anna’s home state, Mexico. The population of Azle increased from 546 in 1910 to 3,890 in 2000 and it continues to grow. The first gun parts store in Azle opened its doors on Main Street in 1936. At that time, there were only a few stores that sold firearms. The Gunsmith Shop continued to be the family-owned business for over eighty years until it closed its doors in 2002. During this time, the Gunsmith Shop was known for selling all sorts of rifle and shotguns parts along with accessories such as sights, stocks and triggers. In addition to being a dealer for Firearms Parts, the Gunsmith Shop also served as an instructor for many years teaching students how to assemble firearms correctly. This instruction helped teach many people about firearm use and repairability which has contributed greatly to theGunsmith Shop’s legacy today. Today, there are still several gun parts stores throughout San Antonio County but none have had as much success as the Gunsmith Shop did when they first opened their doors back in 1936. In 1874, Azle residents voted to create their own police department and began using pistols as their initial weapon. By 1907, Azle had become one of the most important towns in southern Texas for firearms production. Shotguns became popular after World War II and Azle experienced growth in this area as well.
Azle is a town in Hardin County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The first European settlers in Azle were Spanish colonists who arrived in 1795 and named it La Mesilla de la Bahía (Mesilla Point). The name Azle was given to the town by General Antonio López de Santa Anna for his victory over Mexican forces at the Battle of Azalea on April 6, 1807. At that battle, Santa Anna's forces captured more than 100 Mexicans and drove them from their positions near present-day Azle. In 1835, John Wesley Powell located a small stream called Palo Alto Creek in what is now known as east Mesa Street in old azle and named it after him. In 1839, a post office was established at Palo Alto Creek with Pertile as its first ZIP code. The creek became known as Brazos River because of this early naming convention. The townspeople built their first homes about 1830 on land that later became the city of Arlington Heights (now part of Dallas). A courthouse and jail were built there around 1840; both are still standing today. By 1840s azle had a population of 300 people and consisted mostly of farmers and others engaged in subsistence agriculture. In 1850 azle passed through an act providing for election of commissioners to manage public lands; these commissioners began to settle parcels within the limits chartered by Congress as county seats such as Fort Worth and Arlington Heights—the towns now forming part of Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. On February 14, 1861, during American Civil War efforts by Confederate General Robert E Hood's army to capture Fort Sumter inside South Carolina—azle was one among many communities throughout Texas opt not to take sides against the Confederacy instead offering supplies and munitions to Confederate insurgents operating within its borders—the local militia burned all but three buildings within its limits when they discovered what was happening; only one building still stands today (Old Post Office) inside the new city Limits Annexation District which formed around 1960s developments outside past boundaries then annexed into newer districts including parts currently located inside current municipal boundaries

A few miles northeast of Amarillo, Texas, stands the small town of Azle. The name Azle comes from the Kiowa word "azl" meaning "place where water flows." As a result, the town is known for its flowing water and rolling hills. In 1881, when Sam Houston was elected president of the United States, he named Azle his temporary capital because he wanted to continue having an effective government in Amarillo while he campaigned in Wichita Falls. The first settler in what is now Azle was John Brown who arrived in 1827. He built a cabin on Big Creek and founded what would become the town ofAzle. His cabin was replaced by a log cabin later that year. A post office called Brownsville was established in 1829 and remained operational until it closed in 1906. The first school opened in Azle in 1830 and it continued operating until consolidation with neighboring towns took place in 1909. The arrival of railroads helped to revive the economy of Azle during the early 20th century. With new transportation options came new residents who were drawn to easy access to education and businesses along with opportunities for agriculture and trade that had been unavailable before. By 1907, almost half of all workers employed within downtownAzle were women or children working as domestic servants or farmhands
In 1836, the Mexican War of Independence began when General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna led a force of 5,000 soldiers from Mexico to attack the small town of Azle. The Mexicans were successful at first, but soon ran out of supplies and ammunition. The town was taken by surprise and pillaged by the Mexican forces. Aftermath, Azle had few buildings left standing, most of which were destroyed in the fighting. Today, only a few pieces ofAzle's history remain: its lone courthouse remains standing as a reminder of what once happened here; and an occasional groupof tourists visit the small community to see what remains of its past.
