The current incarnation of azle began taking shape around 1930 when the Jellico Manufacturing Company erected two cotton gin plants (one owned by Jellico themselves and one leased from Gulf Steel) on what is now Main Street near Highway 362A/10th Ave N.&W.; these plants produced jello for export to other parts of the world before eventually being scrapped along with most other textile production during World War II due to quotas set by Roosevelt & Congress demand for war materials! The land where these plants once stood remains largely undeveloped today except for some scattered homesites along Nichols Road which are also used as agricultural fields!
