Azle, Texas is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Worth–Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit what is now Azle was Captain James Cook on his second voyage in 1768. He named it "Ayles" after one of his ships, the "Acheron". After Mexican independence from Spain in 1821 and the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo which ceded Mexico's western territories to the United States, Azle became part of UST Mexicano territory. In 1836 UST Mexicano sold much of its land east of Uptown to A&M University and other developers including J.D. Rockefeller Sr., making Azle an agricultural center with a cotton gin and other cotton-related businesses such as textile mills until World War II when Aluminum production began nearby and that destroyed most all the local industry In 1950 A&M made a major donation for use as a high school football stadium by then-Mayor Johnnie Ladd The $30 million gift has been used for various purposes such as athletics (football), arts (the Azle Symphony Orchestra), educational programs (azle college), community services (AZLE JROTC) and more The cityspeople have formed their own governing body called "The City Council" since 1997 which provides city services such as police protection and fire protection while also having some degree of control over non-city functions

Azle is a small town in McAllen County, Texas, United States. The population was 6,898 at the 2010 census. Azle is part of the McAllen–Edinburg–Mission, TX Combined Statistical Area. The first people to live in Azle were Mexican Americans who came overland from Mexico in 1846. They built homes on what is now Elm Street and First Avenue. In 1865, a post office was established here and named for John A. Azle, a rancher and politician from neighboring Waco (now Wichita Falls). Azle's first school was built in 1872 by Mrs. Hilda Bigham and operated until it burned down in 1906. A new school was built on Third Avenue between Elm and First Streets in 1909 by Judge Augustus Hodge Sr., one of the original settlers of McAllen County. In 1915, World War I brought many troops to McAllen county and many businesses closed as soldiers bought goods with food stamps or money they received from the government. Businesses reopened when the war ended but soon after the end of the war many residents left for various reasons such as jobs or other opportunities closer to home. Many of these residents returned once World War II began; however, most continued to leave after that because there were no jobs available close to where they lived or because they found out there were no schools open near them that would teach them how to read or write so they could join the workforce like their ancestors had done before them. In 1954, when Ulysses S Grant High School opened in McAllen county it became one of only two high schools open throughout much of West Texas due largely to efforts by then-Governor Long Edwards III who saw it as an opportunity not just for students living north of San Antonio but also for those south of Austin which did not have access to education through public institutions like Ulysses S Grant High School which helped make West Texas “the breadbasket”of Texans during this time period according to historian Don Wittrocker Jr.. By 1970 about 50% percent OF ALL AZLE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS LIVE IN THE AREA WHICH INCLUDES MUCH OF EDINBURG COUNTY AND MCCALLEN COUNTY . Historically speaking azle has been one of sweltering heathenism’s last strongholds......... In 1907 Elmer Gentry founded Gentry Motors Incorporated here with four friends while he still worked at Waco Ford Factory manufacturing automobiles He started making his own parts here rather than buying items pre-made elsewhere which made his business more successful even though prices went up because he wasn't subsidized by any government program Elmer Gentry's son Ray Ladd took over operation starting around 1966 started producing "Ladd's Air Supply" truck air filters until 1984 when company name changed back again back To Gentry Motors Incorporation Continued production till present day under new name "azle motors"
