Ar-15 receivers have been in use by the American military for over 50 years. The first rifles designed with an Ar-15 type stock were manufactured in 1957 by Winchester. The advantages associated with metal construction include greater strength and durability against corrosion; lack of reported failures due to mechanical flaws; inability to tarnish or rust; ability to handle high levels of humidity etc.; making it an ideal choice for any application where extended service life is desired or where heavy loads are not possible to carry around in traditional firearms designs such as pistols or revolvers
