Settlement continued until 1901 when it became a town under the jurisdiction of Dallas County. On December 1, 1912, Arlington annexation by Fort Worth created a new city within Fort Worth County that lasted until 1923 when it reverted back to Arlington as its owncity separate from Fort Worth. From 1930 until May 15th 2016 there have been 5 mayors for Arlington (Dan Patrick since 2013; Greg Abbott from 2011-2015; Rick Perry from 2007-2011; Ellen Unruh from 2003-2007; Clarence Thomas from 1991-1999). In March 2014 Rick Perry announced his candidacy for US Senate and later withdrew due to health concerns but he remains registered to run again in 2018 as an independent candidate

Arlington, Texas is a small town located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The population of Arlington was 2,751 at the 2010 census. Arlington is one of the oldest towns in Texas and has been around since 1836. The first settler in what would become Arlington County was Captain George Armistead who arrived with his family on November 5, 1836. Armistead's land included present day Arlington Heights and parts of Irvington and University Park. The first courthouse for Arlington County was built in 1839. In 1865, Mayor John Hogg moved from Georgetown to take up the post of mayor of Arlington due to increasing political tension between Dallas and Austin over railroad development near Georgetown College (now Rice University). In 1870, Trinity Church was dedicated on what is now Goodyear Circle in downtown Arlington. It became one of the most popular destinations for Episcopalians in Texas because it had a large congregation that could easily meet inside or outside during services. During this time period, outdoor markets were also common throughout much of America due to its warm climate and abundance of fresh produce available year-round. In 1896, President Grover Cleveland made an official visit to Dallas while he was campaigning for re-election as president and spent two nights at Trinity United Methodist Church before traveling back home to Washington D.C., where he attended a dinner held by Mrs. Cleveland honoring ministers from various denominations who had served her husband during his term as president—a symbolic gesture recognizing denominational unity across partisan lines during this era). On December 3rd 1893, President Grover Cleveland’s wife Emma gave birth to their only child which caused great excitement throughout America as many believed that Mrs. Cleveland would choose notto pursue another presidential campaign after giving birth rather than wait until her husband’s inauguration when many might be expecting her candidacy because she had close ties with both parties; however she declined any offers for office after becoming pregnant but did give several speeches about family life.) A few years later in 1898, Trinity Episcopal Cathedral was dedicated new $2 million dollar edifice making it one of America's largest Gothic Revival churches at that time; this structure remains today as one of the most iconic landmarks within Downtown Dallas skyline along with The Star-Spangled Banner Bridge(1904)and Ronald Reagan Presidential Library & Museum (1982). This addition also helped spur economic development within downtownDallas which continues today through retail shops district known as Uptown/Downtown/Southlake which includes restaurants such as Olive Garden(1999), ribs shack(1993), kiosk(1984), Bottega Veneta (2000), Federico's Bakery& Cafe(1996)), Starbucks Coffee Company (2010)and other retailers including Overstock SuperMarket(2006)), Quicken Loans Arena(2002))and more recently Ballpark District restaurant concepts like Red Lobster (2009)), Two Guys & A Girl Tavern& Grill(2007)) among others! It wasn't until 1936 when voters adopted a request by then Governor James Fenton seeking annexation by Fort Worth so Fort Worth could annex neighboring original counties - Clearwater County gained jurisdictions southward while Archer County gained jurisdiction northward forming what is now Richardson–Fort Worth county line! In 1954 Congressman Jack Kemp introduced House Bill No 5415 proposing approval for the construction of Interstate 10 through rural portions surrounding Ft Worth thereby bypassing Arlington entirely! Ironically enough just four years later when I-10 opened up all thru rural areas surrounding Ft Worth paving way for future subdivisions including Arlington!, Arlington itself experienced rapid growth spurt thanks primarily to business interests seeking commuter access directly into DFW Airport~!!!

The city experienced dramatic growth during the 1960s and 1970s as it became an important military outpost for Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. After years of decline and decline in the 1980s and 1990s, Arlington has since begun to rebound with significant redevelopment projects underway that are expected to create thousands of jobs statewide.
