In 1845, Andrew's grandson James Witherspoon settled there and established a cotton plantation which he ran until his death in 1865. His son James Witherspoon II continued farming until 1906 when he built a frame house on what is now Main Street. From 1907 to 1915, Andrews was also the home of Judge J.C. Nichols who presided over all criminal trials in Midland County before being replaced by District Attorney Harry Holland in 1915 In 1902, Andrews became an independent municipality and was consolidated into Wichita Falls with its own police department and fire Department In 1923, attorney Clarence Denton bought land east of present day Main Street for $1 million dollars and started construction of what would become Denton Schoolhouse which opened in 1925 In 1951-1954, Nellie Parish moved from Lubbock to central Texas to escape communism and incorporate as an unincorporated community within Wichita Falls On November 5th 1959 (the date that midland county became an unincorporated community) Andrew's post office reopened after closure for many years due to lack of mail service By 1992 the population had decreased below 1000 due to annexation by Wichita Falls
