For many years it produced rifles only but by 1924 it had introduced pistols as well! This led to other businesses such as Shotgun Factory (later Smith&Wesson Firearms) taking over some of John’s older premises before finally closing down in 1998 because Of economic problems within the town itself! However, Gun Barrel Works continues today with operations located on Main Street near where John lived until his death in 1936! It seems that even though Andrew’s gun industry might have gone through tough times recently – it still produces quality firearms products that are still popular among Texans today!

Andrews Post Office was established on July 16, 1892 and closed on May 15, 1974. The first settler in Andrews was John Cranch who came to the area in 1859. The community that grew up around Andrews began as a small ranching village with only 10 residents in 1870. By 1910, Andrews had grown to a population of 2,000 people and by 1920 had reached 5,000 people total. In 1940, the post office was renamed for Admiral David D. Andrews (1851-1927), U.S. Navy Commodore during World War I and later General of Infantry during World War II who served as Commander-in-Chief of Far East Pacific Forces from 1945 until his death in 1927 at age 80 years old In 1954, the central square located east of the post office became known as "The Park". Andrews was founded in 1876 by Andrew J. Andrews and his wife Sarah A. Hartman, both natives of Scotland. In 1887, the town became the county seat of Wise County after it was moved from Sulphur Springs to Andrews. From 1889 to 1907, it was also the county seat of Beckham County due to its location at the point where Ulysses S. Grant's Arkansas River road crossed over into Beckham County from Wise County. In 1901, when Wise and Beckham counties were merged into Johnson County as part of a statewide reorganization of government following statehood within Texas,[1] Andrews became the new county seat for all Johnson Counties except for Wichita Falls which continued to be its official county Seat until 1959.[2][3] The town has experienced many changes throughout its history including being served as a military post during World War II; becoming an agricultural center during the 1930s; experiencing rapid growth during the late 1960s and early 1970s before losing some resident population due to Interstate 35 construction; becoming a ghost town during the late 1990s; and most recently experiencing significant growth with recent development projects such as a Tyson Foods plant in nearby Clineville[4][5].
