Andrews Jr., took over his father’s business and developed what is now known as the Andrews Gun Sight Company. The company became one of the leading firearms manufacturers in America during the late 1800s and into the 1900s. In 1902, Lt. Andrews received patents for a new type of handguns called “Tomahawk Gunsights” which utilized a rotating mirror system to provide accurate aiming while firing from a moving platform or vehicle. In 1911, Captains John A. Andrews III and George Wickersham founded The Wickersham Arms Corporation in order to produce shotgun ammunition using surplus World War I military munitions left over from decommissioning artillery pieces and other military firearms being sold off by government officials at bargain basement prices. The company quickly became one of America’s leading shotguns producer thanks to its innovative manufacturing techniques and product offerings including their famed “Wickerham Target Gun” which was designed specifically for hunting game such as deer, turkey, pigs, bear, etc.. By 1934, The Wickersham Arms Corporation had become well-known throughout America due to its production of high quality shotguns such as those used by law enforcement officers across different jurisdictions around the country such as Dallas/Fort Worth TX; Austin TX; Phoenix AZ; San Francisco CA; Jacksonville FL; New York City NY; Baltimore MD; Cleveland OH; Tucson AZ). In 1935, Captains John A.Andrews III and George Wickersham merged with Brownells Firearms Company who then merged with Remington Rand (now part of Ruger) in 1938 creating what is today Ruger Incorporated.. During this time period also saw significant technological advancements withingunsighting technology such as development of film sights which allowed shooters to take pictures or record video footage directly onto theirgun barrels providing real time target alignment not possible before.. In 1870, J M Downing organized what became known as "The First Christian Church" which remained the only church in town until 1956 when it merged with another local church to become The Peoples United MethodistChurch which still meets at Andrews Municipal Building today In 1898, F W Smith opened a general store and post office here which continued to serve until 1969 when it went out of business due to competition from larger stores along I-610 east of town In 1906/07 T W Denton organized what became known as "The Creek Indians" who hunted game including deer, bear, hogs and turkey throughout most of their territory east of Neches River before white settlement started there On March 3 1916 John L Dawson donated 2 acres (0 hectares) corner lot #2 in center of village for use by Town Council for school purposes . On October 21 1926 David J Hood donated 10 acres (4ha) northeast side for high school use . That same year conception was given for name change from Creek Indian Settlement to Andrews Township
