The growth of Amarillo has been paralleled by that within Hudspeth County since its creation following Reconstruction following the Civil War. In 1907 there were only 2,000 people living within Hudspeth County; today there are over 160,000 residents living within Hudspeth County alone! Despite this continued growth throughout much of recent history – which has seen some major changes such as annexation into other counties – many aspects about Amarillo remain unchanged including its rapid development rate and vibrant nightlife culture which has helped make it one of America’s fastest growing cities!
