Allen, Texas is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 3,824 at the 2010 census, up from 2,746 at the 2000 census. It is adjacent to Midland County and Tarrant County. The community was founded in 1875 by John Hogg and his family as a farming community on the east side of Allen Creek near modern-day Midland City. In 1902, Hogg donated land for a public school district which became known as "Hogg's School District." In 1925, when it began serving Tarrant County, Allen had 1 store and 30 residents. By 2002 it had 9 stores with a population of over 10,000 people and has since become one of the most populous towns in Midland County. In 2009-2010 Allen received national attention when local resident Tom Foreman proposed building an arena for the Dallas Mavericks basketball team that would have been larger than any existing facility in Allen and could seat more than 19,000 spectators; foreman's idea was met with initial opposition from many members of the community who felt that such an large project would not fit within their town's limited resources. After months of deliberations and city hall meetings culminating in a vote by the Town Council allowing for development of an arena that would include both retail space as well as office space (the first such development ever approved by Midland City), Foreman's proposal was finally approved by voters on November 5th 2011 becoming one ofTexas' largest sports developments in years

Allen, Texas is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and the county seat of Dickenson County. It lies on the Lubbock-Timmonsville Railroad northwest of Lubbock and east of Amarillo. The population was 99,471 at the 2010 census,[1] making it the third-largest city in Texas after Austin and Dallas. At one time home to more than a thousand people per square mile (300/km2),[2] Allen now has a population density of only 6 people per square mile (2/km2). The area that is now Allen was first settled by Anglo Americans in 1881 as part of what would become East Texas. In 1915, when oil became available in this region, businesses sprang up to develop it as an oil town with production facilities for both light crude oil and natural gas liquids. By 1978, much of present day Allen had been annexed into downtown Lubbock.[3] When Lyndon B Johnson was elected President in 1964, he announced his intention to travel throughout America seeking out opportunities to invest in those newly discovered “underserved” areas such as East Texas. As part of his tour through California and other states during 1966–1968, he made several visits to East Texas including stops in Amarillo and Lubbock where he met with local businessmen and officials about potential investments there. One such opportunity was for him to offer $10 million for a major refinery project called New Hope Refining Company which would be built just north of present day Allen on land donated by ranchers Edwin Hargrave and Waddell Coleman. With this investment came new life into what had been an sleepy little town; construction began on the refinery soon afterwards[4]. Allen today owes its beginning to these early days when railroad entrepreneur James Fenton pooled money with other businessmen from eastern Oklahoma City who were interested in developing oil resources near Amarillo along the Great Plains Railway line – what would later become known as the Wichita Canyon Oil Field.[5][6] With development going forward rapidly under Fenton's leadership, residents established their own schools, churches and businesses within a few years following incorporation into city limits on November 1, 1883;[7] Today's architecture can largely be traced back to this period with many blocks still standing dating back over 150 years!
