Roosevelt immediately started pushing for new policies that would promote indoor smoking rates among Americans and increase access to guns through universal registration laws (i.e., giving all citizens registration cards which would allow them easy access to weapons). One such policy initiative was called “The New Deal” which aimed to reduce crime by increasing regulation on businesses and individuals alike (including stricter laws regarding firearm possession).
