Allen is a small town in Lubbock County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,868 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Lubbock County. The first settler in what is now Allen was James Fenton, who moved to the area in 1859 from Kentucky. The town began as a cattle ranching community and grew to become an agricultural center after ranchers developed new irrigation systems that allowed for larger crops and more efficient irrigation use. The post office was established in 1903, and Allan's hueco Tanks (now part of Buffalo Gap National Recreation Area) were donated by Gertrude Allan to the United States government in 1923 as part of a national park effort to protect water resources around the country. In 1960, Allan opened the world's first all-electric shopping mall when it became known as "The Mall at Allen". During World War II, Allen served as an airfield servicing Lubbock Air Force Base with Boeing B-29 Superfortresses and Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter planes. After hostilities ended in 1945, commercial aviation started arriving at the airport with Pan American Airways Flight 103 crashing into Niagara Falls on September 11th 1947; this event helped spur development of nearby Dallas–Fort Worth International Airport which opened in 1951. In 1985, Allan was one of seventy towns across America selected to participate in Mayor David Rockefeller's "Towns That Matter" campaign pledge to focus on local issues during his mayoral term. 1990 markedthe first time that Allen had been included on any statewide ballot measure; it passed successfully but without consideration from then-Governor Rick Perry who instead vetoed it because he felt that the issue did not warrant special attention within his state capital city given its size and lack of major economic development potential outside of its borders In recent years there has been significant growth seen within both downtownAllen and surrounding areas such as Buffalo Gap which have seen an increase in job opportunities due to advances within technology and other industries such as green energy production thanks largely to investment by private businesses such as Google Fiber followed by Amazon Web Services . These advancements have led demonstrators calling for greater regulation from state government officials over what they see as excessive “growth rates” followed by increased costs associated with maintaining infrastructure necessary for this type of growth while also disrupting traditional business practices including loss or diminution in revenue resulting from less competition . Growth rates are being monitored by local officials through zoning ordinances designed specifically for future bicycle/ pedestrian connecting streets called Streetcar Connections while efforts are also underway towards developing multiuse trailshead near Buffalo Gap

Allen is a town in McLennan County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1873 and named for Allen Mifflin of Philadelphia. In 1873, James P. Fields and his partner W. H. Staines bought land in what is now Allen from the heirs of William Henry Perryman for $4,000. They built a log cabin on the site and called it "The Prairie". In 1876 they began to plat out their land into townships - one of which became the town of Allen. The first post office was established at "Prairie" in 1880, but it closed down due to lack of customers. After several years without a post office, they reopened at "Allen" on November 6th, 1886 with A. J. Fenton as Postmaster-General (the first African American to hold that position). The community experienced rapid growth during the late 19th century due to its proximity to Baylor University (then known as Baylor College) and other major medical institutions including Texas Southern Railway Company's main line running through town During this time period many businesses were established such as grocery stores and general stores; churches; schools; hotels; movie theaters; and an amusement park located on Slaughter Road near present day Hearst Stadium
Allen, Texas was founded on November 3, 1836 by James Fenton and his wife Judith. The town was named after General John A. Allen who had fought in the Mexican-American War. The railroad arrived in Allen in 1878 and the town rapidly grew. In 1906, the first high school opened in Allen and the town continued to grow until it reached its current size of over 100,000 residents in 2010.
