Alice, Texas is the oldest town in Hidalgo County, and it has been a center of gun culture for more than a century. The city was founded by Texans in 1833, and became an important stop on the Chisholm Trail when travelers passed through. Alice, Texas was founded in 1871 as a small town on the banks of the Colorado River. The community grew quickly due to its location and access to timber and water resources. By 1912, Alice had a population of over 1,000 people and became an important transportation hub for the surrounding area. In 1925, Alice incorporated as a city and continued to grow while remaining an agricultural center. In 1961, Alice was named a UNESCO City of Culture and has since been home to numerous cultural events such as the International Folk Arts Fair and the Texas State Fair.
Alice, Texas is a small town in the Waller County community of Alice. The population was 513 at the 2010 census. It is located in the All-American Region and is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1879 by Enoch Alger andettlement began that year on land acquired from the tribe of Kiowa. In 1881, Alice post office was established, and named for Alice Kapp, one of Alger's seven children. In 1890, Alger donated land to create a village on what would eventually be called North Main Street in Alice. The first settler, John Hanks, built a cabin there in 1891. In 1902, Alice incorporated as an municipality with five trustees; it had no income until 1903 when it levied an income tax to support government services such as firefighting and streetlights. In 1912, the main road through Alice intersected FM 1084 (now US 183), which made it easier for goods to reach larger populations outside of town limits; by 1920, trade had become so important that a post office was again established in Alice (the first one having been discontinued in 1896). In 1925 local banker George Eichner offered to sell 1/3 interest in his farmstead development called "Oakvale" to any person who could build or fence a stockade around it within six months; within two years Oakvale had become one of the most important agricultural communities east of Austin because its fertile ground supported large crops such as cotton and corn while also providing defense against Indian raids during the early 20th century. By 1930 about 95%of all meat consumed within All-American Region came from these areas: cattle raised on country near here were exported to other markets beginning in 1911

Alice, Texas is a small town in Cameron County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,869 at the 2010 census. Alice began as a stagecoach stop on theirted Chisholm Trail in 1872. It became an important railroad junction and served as a hub for travelers heading east to Austin and west to Wichita Falls. Today the Alice Volunteer Fire Department maintains two departments; one for fire prevention and another for protective services. The first settlers in what is now Alice were Methodist Episcopal missionaries who evangelized in the area around 1872-1873. One of these missionaries, Reverend John Sibley, founded what is now Alice Methodist Episcopal Church on October 15th of that year. The first school was organized in 1875 by Reverend Sibley himself with 12 students and Mr. Cooks as teacher/director/ibrarian/innkeeper/seaman teaching them reading and writing skills while also helping with farm work and manufacturing goods from his shop located on Main Street which still stands today! In 1888 when Alice incorporated it had a population of 350 people! In 1912 Judge Waddell Heard donated land to build a high school which would serve as the nucleus of present day Alice High School which opened its doors August 25th 1926! A new post office was built adjacent to the high school soon after opening allowing for mail service between Alice and Wichita Falls! A general store was built just south of current day Main Street (now Railroad Avenue) in 1916 by early resident James Hedden Jr., father of future Congressman James Hedden III! This store continued operation until 1954 when it burned down due to an unplanned fire! The old post office building still stands vacant today but serves as part of the local history museum open daily 9am-5pm
