Union City is a town in Cooke County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 9,876 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Knoxville metropolitan area. Union City is home to The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and the Union City Mall. The first permanent settler in what would become Union City was James Irvine in 1819. Irvine set up a trading post on the edge of what would later be known as downtown Union City. In 1825, John Cockerill opened a grocery store and tavern called "The Green Gables" which still stands today on Main Street near where I-75 meets US-12. In 1830, David Dudley founded Dudley's Store and Wharf on the riverfront just east of present day Main Street between Center and Elm Streets. This business became one of principal navigational depots for shipping traffic along the Cumberland River during the early years of railroads construction in this region. In 1831, Gideon Welles organized a wagon train from Nashville with plans to travel downriver to Chattanooga to purchase goods from traders at that time located mostly along Muscle Shoals River (now Chickamauga Creek). However, when they reached Decatur Junction on the Tennessee River they were met by Averell Harriman who purchased their shipment back for $500 cash plus two horses and six wagons worth additional cargo including cows and hogs which he took home with him! That same year also saw another wagon train make its way upriver to UnionCity via Livingston but it too failed to reach its destination due to bad weather conditions making navigation difficult through knee-deep water across numerous rapids! On July 4th 1831 , an advance party under Captains Asahel Eaton (the first African American captain general), Reuben Miles (the first white person ever elected sheriff of Knoxville)and Abram Hewitt arrived at Georgetown Landing on Holston River about four miles north of present day Main Street within sight but no sound or sign that any human being lived or worked there . After disembarking their supplies and taking possession of some dwellings erected for themselves by Captain Eaton(including a cabin built expressly for himself), they continued their journey upstream until nightfall having traveled over thirty miles . This Lock featured three disks that were connected together via a rope system so that when one disk was rotated, it caused the other two disks to rotate as well. pistolsmiths could then turn these disks to unlock/freeze guns inside the locker! In 1916, Hungarian gun manufacturer Ambrosi designed and built his own handgun locking mechanism known as “Anchor” which allowed shooters to carry their handguns with them wherever they went without having them Locked up (or at least until they had time to remove it). Anchorlocks were also popular among law enforcement officials who needed easy access to their firearms but did not want them visible on-duty or within earshot of potential victims or suspects (i.e., police officers). Since World War II, handgunlocking mechanisms have continued evolving and becoming more sophisticated; however, some aspects which remain traditional include: using either keys or combinations (depending on floor plans), using separate pistols for each individual locker (so weapons cannot be mixed up during storage), requiring customers service before items can be loaded into luggage/trains/planes etc., and providing extra security if lost or stolen handguns are recovered later on

As part of his efforts to build Knoxville into a booming metropolis, Andrew Johnson frequently visited Union City during his terms as governor of Tennessee. Today Union City remains an important cultural and economic center within its former boundaries. The city has several notable landmarks including its iconic courthouse complex, which is still used today as a court building; the old cotton gin; and John F Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum, which is home to many artifacts related to President John F Kennedy's life and career. Additionally, Union City continues to serve as an active community hub with various events slated each year throughout the downtown area.
