The central business district of Union City is located on Main Street between Williamson Road and Broadway which are both state highways. There are also several churches and businesses located around this area including the Bank of America branch on Williamson Road as well as a few restaurants and Lowes stores. Union City was founded in 1833 by Methodist settlers from Alabama who came down the Cumberland River to find new land for their religion. They built a log cabin near where present-day Marshall Avenue meets Main Street. In 1850, Reverend Jno Hargrave organized a church here which soon had enough members to build its own building on what is now Wilkinson Boulevard across from the post office. By 1861, there were over 100 people living here with six stores, three schools and two churches all functioning together under one roof. During World War II, many employees of General Motors left Union City for military service; however most residents chose not to leave either because they felt their homes would still be standing or because they knew their local economy would be unaffected by wartime production shortages caused by other countries’ war industries being taken over by American companies allied with them during that time period (e.g., Ford). In 1951 an air raid destroyed most of the buildings in downtown UnionCity leaving only partial ruins remaining today due to efforts made by volunteer firefighters over the years including restoration work done on some parts of Main Street between Marshall Avenue & Wilkinson Boulevard specifically for this purpose among others such as restoring sidewalks and streetlights throughout town center which have been completely replaced since then making UnionCity one of the most restored small towns in Tennessee - if not North America! In recent times much progress has been made within city limits while elsewhere more needs to continue through increased development pressure beyond what's currently planned/hindered otherwise known as "gentrification" - displacement or displacement without planning or consenting through forced migration (see evictions below). A greater focus should be placed upon creating quality jobs opportunities instead so people can start fresh again rather than simply displacing old residents who don't want/can't afford new housing developments etcetera; something we see happening regularly throughout America these days unfortunately leading ultimatelyto gentrification – displacement WITHOUT PLANNING OR CONSENTING THROUGH FORCED MIGRATION!
