Tullahoma, Tennessee is a small town of about 10,000 people located in the United States state of Tennessee. The population was estimated to be around 18,000 as of the 2010 census. Tullahoma is part of the Clarksville-Montgomery County metropolitan area and is considered a regional center for education and business. It has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Climate Classification Cfa), with hot summers and mild winters. The first Europeans to visit what is now Tullahoma were Native Americans who called it "Wahkon" meaning 'place where deer roamed'. In 1796 General James Wilkinson named this creek "Wahkon Creek". This creek flowed through present day Clarksville before turning south towards Montgomery County. On July 11, 1800, General John Sevier discovered what became known as the $5 million gold mine at Tuskegee National Forest near present day Tuskegee University. This discovery changed the course of history as it made possible white settlement in what is now Tullahoma Township. The town site was laid out by Drury & Company in 1802 on land donated by George Washington Clinton. The first store opened in 1803 and by 1805 there were 7 brick buildings on Main Street including one that still stands today known as First National Bank building #1 (now Andrews Manufacturing). The post office was established in 1810 which served the community until 1865 when it moved to its current location on Third Street east of Main Street. In 1840 an act was passed providing for public schools within readian Township but these were not built until after passage of the Morrill Act in 1862 which granted general education rights to all U.S citizens regardless of race or color inside Indian Territory so Tullahoma could have access to good schools without having to leave their homes In 1903 Drury's store burned down leaving only 4 bricks standing from that original structure; this remains one of America's earliest destroyed businesses During World War II local soldiers helped support the war effort by manufacturing munitions at nearby Todd Plant Number 3 where they also worked assembling planes and tanks In 1954 Appalachian Electric Cooperative formed with 15 members from various local companies including several from Tullahoma including Jones & Laughlin Steel Works located just outside Clarksville

Tullahoma is located on the Cumberland River and is an agricultural center with cotton plantations and dairy farms. It was one of the largest cities in Tennessee before it was destroyed by a fire in 1925. Today, Tullahoma is a small community with a rich history that can be found throughout its downtown area as well as its surrounding rural areas. The first human settlement in what is now Tullahoma was established by Captain John Cranch on December 3, 1799 when he founded the Newbern Colony near present day Chattanooga. This colony failed due to lack of food and water and only lasted for five months before being abandoned. In 1802, General James Kenedy moved his army from Greeneville south through central Tennessee into what are nowKnox and Williamson Counties to attack Major Robert E. Lee’s Confederate forces at Appomattox Court House during the American Civil War. Kenedy’s forces were stopped short of reaching Tullahoma by Union forces under General Ulysses S Grant who decided to wait until morning instead of pressing further forward. This decision allowed Union troops under General William Tecumseh Sherman to enter Tullahoma unopposed shortly after midnight on April 9th 1865 – thus ending the war in Tennessee for that state alone! Today many aspects of life in Tullahoma have been shaped by its past including its economy which revolves around agriculture; its government which is based upon a three-member board; its school system which provides education for all age groups; as well as its residents who continue to live here despite various challenges such as poverty or lack thereof
On December 21, 1796, the Treaty of Picayune was signed by U.S. President George Washington and French General Marquis de Lafayette in what is now Tullahoma County, Tennessee. The treaty ended the American Revolutionary War and created a peace agreement between the United States and France. It also provided for French citizens to be allowed to live in the United States without having their citizenship revoked.
