Springfield, Tennessee is a town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 2,651 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Nashville–Davidson–Murfreesboro metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, the town had a total area of , all land. The community was founded in 1871 by refugees from Perry County, Kentucky. A post office called Springfield was established in 1872, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1906. The first settler in what would become Springfield Township was John Crain. In 1901, he and his wife built a log cabin on their farm which they named "Crain's Cabin". They also raised chickens and pigs there until 1913 when they moved to another farm two miles (3 km) away where they erected a new log cabin which they named "Springfield Village". They continued to live there until their death in 1955. From 1908-1914, Wanda Cook ran an agricultural store here that became known as Cook's Corner after her husband-in-law Samuel Cook bought it from her mother-in-law Anna Belle Richmond for $500 cash. He operated it until his death in 1924; then it passed through several hands before being acquired by Jimmie Dickey who built the first frame house hereon about 1930; later Purchasing land from him gave rise to Springfield Baptist Church which began services on October 26th 1935 with Reverend JB Moore officiating In 1907 (the year after the town formed), Union Carbide Corporation leased 6 acres (2 ha) of section 8 east of PRESTON for use as an experimental production line for their newly developed acetylene gas plant located just west of Ironton Landing on the Cumberland River near present day Springvale Elementary School and Pringle State Park
The history of magazines and gun magazines goes back to the muzzle loading pistols of the 19th century. The first magazine-fed firearms were designed by John Browning in 1859, and were called the "Brownings". They were a type of revolver that fired a single round through a tube on the front end of the firearm, which was inserted into an ammunition magazine behind the pistol grip. In 1892, George P. Smith and Adolphus Peabody developed what is now known as the .45 Colt Single Action Army (SA), which used a revolving cylinder to hold rounds in three rounds per cartridge. This design became popular for self-loading pistols because it allowed them to be reloaded quickly without having to remove or carry around multiple cartridges. In 1903, Winchester introduced its Model 1903 Springfield rifle, which featured an 8 round detachable box magazine with a slip-resistant floorplate. It became one of the most popular rifles in world history. In 1937,Walther began using drum-locked magazines for all their handguns except its top-of-the line models such as its Walther PPK and P38 pistols; these drums could hold either seven or ten rounds respectively. Since then, many other handgun manufacturers have followed suit with their own drum-locked magazines; however, Walther remains alone in maintaining Drumlock technology exclusively for its handguns. Today's modern handgun magazines are made out of different materials than those used decades ago: they are made from plastic or metal so they can be easily transported and stored, but also feature more reliable designs that allow them to store more rounds than older mags did before. Gun mags have even been redesigned to help reduce recoil when firing; this is done by adding recoil absorbing materials like textured surfaces on both sides of each magazine well/cartridge well combo so that there is less felt recoil when firing your handgun
