The population reached 25,000 by 1880; however, due to increasing population density and lack of transportation options in postwar Tennessee (the state became more automobile-based),SpringHill's population dwindled over time until it finally peaked at 30,000 in 1970 when it merged with neighboring municipalities to form one large city called "Spring Hill", Tennessee."
