The Spring Hill Gun Club was organized in 1903. The club held its first meeting at the home of Dr. C.M. Hackney. This was also the year that James Wm. Cook, a local attorney and gunsmith, started manufacturing revolvers in Spring Hill. In 1907, the Spring Hill Gun Club moved to its present location at 513 W Main Street. That same year, the Spring Hill Pistol and Rifle Club was organized and began meeting at different locations within the city limits until it finally located its current location on Elmwood Avenue in 1917. TheSpringHillGunClub has been active ever since!

It is part of the Knoxville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in Spring Hill were white Methodist missionaries who came there in 1811 while looking for a new mission post after leaving their previous one in Murfreesboro. They named their new settlement after President James K. Polk and his wife Sarah Childress Polk's home state of Georgia. In 1821, Reverend John Witherspoon moved to Spring Hill from Lebanon and became its first pastor; he would remain until his death in 1858. In 1840, David Lane built a log cabin near what is now Main Street as a summer home for himself and his family before moving into what is today called "Lane's Landing." He would become more involved with the community later on and build several other homes here including Oneida Creek House (now known as SpringHill Manor). In 1865, John Muhlenberg bought land from David Lane and began construction on what would eventually become SpringHill Station which served as both a rail stop for coal trains coming downriver from Chattanooga and also as an agricultural center with stores, barns, mills, churches and homes used by merchants/ farmers during that time period. By 1889 it had developed into an extensive brick-and-brick shopping center complete with over 100 businesses across three levels housing 4 million square feet of retail space along with 56 apartments up to 400 square feet each., making it one of largest commercial complexes ever built in Knoxville! Only two years laterTxianna Beasley opened her popular restaurant – Zinfandel’s – at SpringHill Station which quickly became known throughout Knoxville as one of the best restaurants anywhere! This started what has been called “the restaurant revolution” that has continued through many decades still going strong today! Spring Hill is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,584 at the 2010 census. It lies on the Cumberland River north of Chattanooga and east of Knoxville. The first permanent settler in what is now Spring Hill was Nicholas Latimer in 1811. He named his property "Latimer's Landing" after Nicholas Latimer himself. In 1817, John Sevier moved to this area from nearby Greeneville and built the first gristmill on the river. The miller operated it until 1839 when he sold it to John Hogg for $1,500. Hogg used the mill for flouring oats and other crops until 1862 when he sold it to James Cope for $2,000. In 1865, Nathaniel Fuller purchased latimer's land from Hogg and started a cotton plantation there called Fuller's Cotton Plantation. This plantation produced large quantities of cotton until 1971 when it was bought by Bob Carruth who dismantled it and moved its parts to another location near Chattanooga where they are still being exhibited today as a museum piece known as "The Cotton Kingdom." In 1868, James Waddell founded SpringHill railway station which served as an interchange between two different railways that were opening up throughout the region: The Nashville & Chattanooga Railway (N&C) and The Memphis & Nashville Railway (M&N). Railroads were important not only because they allowed entrepreneurs like Waddell to bring goods into cities like Nashville but also because they helped connect these various regions through transportation so that people could work together instead of travelling miles apart or buying products from multiple sources. In 1870 Springfield Johnston opened his grocery store at 400 Main Street which became one of the most popular places in town due to its variety of groceries including provisions for religious services conducted at nearby churches such as First Baptist Church located across the street fromSpringhill Station on Wilson Boulevard which later became known as Robertson Coliseum during basketball games featuring teams from both universities playing against each other.) A post office called Spring Hill has been established in this community since 1876; however, mail service did not start operations until 1907). One of the early residents of Spring Hill was Drayton Gale who settled here in 1830s with his family; he became one ofHardin County’s earliest physicians and also developed much of what is now downtown SpringHill."

In 1861, Confederate soldiers burned down the Union-owned Spring Hill Depot. The area became known as Battle Creek because of the fight that followed.
