None of these have ever succeeded, however, because of its importance to the community and its iconic status.
Spring Hill is a small town in Davidson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,845 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Nashville–Davidson Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community began as a small cattle station on the banks of the Cumberland River. In 1868, Thomas J. Sloan and his family bought land near Spring Hill for $10 per acre (1/4 mile). The original Spring Hill Methodist Episcopal Church was built in 1869. In 1901, the town name was changed to honor General John Foust Snively while he was commanding U.S. Corps of Engineers in Tennessee during World War I. A post office operated in Spring Hill from December 1861 until it was discontinued in 1920; however, citizens continued to use "springhill" as their local name until it was given to the current city of Nashville on November 3, 1923 by Mayor James Sargent Turner with a gift from Mrs. Snively's father-in-law Wm Crain Jr.. In 1924, Mr. Crain donated what is now known as Old Hickory Park to the city of Nashville for public use and development purposes The park includes baseball fields (now home to MetroStars), tennis courts and a playground that has been used by both children and adults since its creation On May 10th of each year since 1927 there has been an event known as "Nashville Days" which features several arts and music events throughout downtown Nashville In 1951 spring hill had its first firehouse which still stands today
