The first pistols in Spring Hill were made by the Smith & Wesson company in 1892. The revolver industry was very new at that time, and there weren’t many manufacturers. So, a few companies produced revolvers before Smith & Wesson became the standard. They continued to make revolvers until 1911. From 1911-1914, they made semi-automatic pistols called “Springfields” which were popular with law enforcement agencies and civilians alike. After World War II ended, they stopped making handguns and just produce revolvers again.
Spring Hill is a small town in Knox County, Tennessee. The population was 1,907 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Cumberland River north of Nashville and east of Memphis. Spring Hill was founded in 1848 by John Hogg and his brother-in-law, James Gentry. It became a city in 1895. The population has decreased since 2000, when it ranked as the 11th most populous city in Tennessee with a total population of 2,716. The town's namesake spring is located near its center and flows into the Cumberland River just west of downtown. According to local legend, General Andrew Jackson spent time here while he was campaigning for president in 1824; he may have bathed here during his retreat from Vicksburg after that battle. Spring Hill also claims to be home to "the first TV set." During World War II, Spring Hill served as an airfield for two American bomber groups: the 303rd Bombardment Group (H), which flew Fort Worth-based B-17 Flying Fortress bombers; and the 319th Fighter Group (F), which used P-51 Mustangs from nearby Goodlettsville Air Force Base. After hostilities ended in 1945, many of these planes were stored at Spring Hill until they were sold or scrapped over the next few years. One such plane still remains at SpringHill Airport today – a Republic F4U Corsair serial number 54-5667 – on display as part of the museum's collection

Spring Hill is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee. The population was 1,425 at the 2000 census. It lies within the Knoxville metropolitan area. The first European to settle in what is now Spring Hill was James Robertson, who arrived in 1796. He founded a cabin on the present site of Spring Hill and named it Robertson's Cabin after his father-in-law, Alexander Robertson. In 1814, Thomas Fenton purchased the original Robertson cabin from James and built a larger structure on the site which he called Fenton's Hermitage. From this location, Fenton conducted religious services for several years until 1816 when he moved his center of worship to what is now downtown Knoxville. In 1850, John Witherspoon established an academy here which became known as Witherspoon University in 1853. The town was platted as part of Hardin County on March 3, 1861 by Jno. Biddle and Addison Ferguson for $5 per acre (less than one dollar per acre). A post office called Spring Hill was established in 1865; it remained open until 1915 when it became part of Knoxville. At about this time, much progress had been made in organizing the community into blocks or wards; so that by 1870 there were twenty-four blocks organized into two precincts with four voting members each - one from each ward - making up SpringHill Township . On July 15th 1870 main street through town passed under state control as a result of a bill sponsored by Rep Henry Sibley (R) authoring "An act to provide for organization of townships within Hardin county" The following year incorporation took place with Charles Pritchard officiating as first recorder and William Hite Clerk succeeding him . On January 1st 1872 political subdivision took effect with townships being divided into civil districts numbered 1-24 inclusive withspringhill township falling within district 2
Spring Hill was founded in 1799 by a group of Welshmen who were among the first white people to settle in what is now Tennessee. The town was named forhill, which is located about two miles from its original site. Spring Hill was one of the largest settlements in Tennessee and had a population of about 1,500 people when it was destroyed by fire in 1811. It re-emerged as a small community after being rebuilt on a different location.
