Spring Hill is located on the banks of the Cumberland River. The town has a population of around 2,500 people. The name "Spring Hill" comes from an old Cherokee word meaning "place where new growth begins." In 1817, Major General John Hickman purchased land east of Petersburg for $10 per acre. He named his new purchase "SpringHill," after his home state of Virginia. The following year, he erected a courthouse and jail in SpringHill Township. soon after, he began to build homes and rural businesses throughout Sevier County. In 1840, SpringHill became the county seat for Sevier County when it was created from parts of Knox and Putnam counties. Today, SpringHill remains one of the most vibrant small towns in Tennessee with its own shopping mall, restaurants, theaters and cafes

Spring Hill is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 2,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Nashville–Davidson metropolitan area. Spring Hill was founded in 1892 by W. T. Henson and his family as a farming village on the banks of the Cumberland River near what is now downtown Nashville. In 1907, Henson donated land to create Spring Hill Park and renamed it after himself, which helped make SpringHill an important center of cultural and social life in Davidson County during the 1920s and 1930s. In 1943, when World War II began, many residents of Hardin County opted to leave for military service based on false assurances that they would be brought back home once hostilities ended. Many of these people never returned home; however, some did return and started businesses in Spring Hill such as Armoury Furniture Company (now known as SAM's Clothing Store) and King's Hardware & Supply Co., both remain operating today within their original buildings downtown. Today, Springhill remains a vibrant community with active businesses located throughout its core business district including: Dillard's Department Store (formerly Sears), Macy'sazar Inc., Starbucks Coffee & Teavana Coffee Bar/Cafeteria/, First Baptist Church (), Artisan Bakery (), Jiffy Lube (), BP Stationspringhill-tn-computation (@bpstationspringhilltn), Knoxville branch of Wells Fargo bank (). The citizens of SpringHill have played an important role in developing Davidson County over the years through their activism and support for local government initiatives such as: establishment of the Davidson County Democratic Party Committee in 1946; passage of The Townshend Plan which called for increased spending on public schools by the county government; enactment of The Works Progress Administration Act () which supported various industrial projects throughout Davidson County; support for Bob Ney’s successful campaign to become speaker of the Houseof Representatives in 1984; endorsement by then-Governor Don Sundquist (R) for Ulysses S. Grant National Historical Park in 1987.; designation by then-President George H.W._Bush (D) as one Of America’s most outstanding communities under his administration (); development and growth of Downtown Nashville through establishment of Streetscape District No. 1 (); designation by Mayor Megan Barry (D) as OneOfAmerica’s Top 10 Creative Cities
