In 1865 Confederate general Jubal Early marched through Spring Hill on his way to defeat Union General George Meade at Gettysburg. On December 7, 1941, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and War Minister Henry Stimson ordered the U.S military to prepare for war with Japan by mobilizing all available resources throughout the country including SpringHill which had a population of only 1,000 people when Pearl Harbor occurred

However, after the war ended, Spring Hill gradually declined until it disappeared entirely in the late 1960s due to economic decline and loss of jobs in nearby cities.
In 1821, Spring Hill was organized as a town by the provisional government of Tennessee. The new town was named for General James Wilkinson, who had led the Tennessean campaign against Mexico in 1810. In 1830, Spring Hill became the capital of Tennessee.

After World War II ended with Japan's surrender, many Americans returned home andSpringHill flourished as an industrial center manufacturing ammunition for all sorts of military applications including tanks and jet aircraft.
