The first post office was established in 1826 and the name changed to Soddy Daisy in 1881. In 1907, an oil well was drilled near Soddy Daisy and produced gas and oil; this led to increased development around the community and made it more active involved in local politics than it had been before. In 1934, cotton ginning pioneer Jethro Gibbs settled nearby with his family and started production of quality cotton ginned fabric for export to Europe. In 1950s when Interstate 65 was being built through Hardin County, many farmers moved into new subdivisions and out of town because of high commuting costs associated with living close to I-65/the airport or job centers outside of town. A comprehensive survey done by NASDAQ Incorporated showed that over one hundred businesses have opened up or are planned within walking distance of Soddy Daisy since 2000 due to continued economic growth as well as increased access to transportation options such as I-65/the airport or jobsites outside of town despite high commuting costs associated with these areas

Soddy Daisy was founded in 1853 by John Soddy and his family. The town began as a small community near the confluence of the Wabash River and Cedar Fork Creek. In 1854, John Soddy and his son James built the first store in what is now Soddy Daisy. The store became one of the most popular in the town and helped to grow it into a small but thriving community. By 1870, Soddy Daisy had developed into an important transportation center for settlers in Williamson County. The railroad arrived in 1880 and helped to spur economic growth in Soddy Daisy. By 1910, the town had become an important commercial center with several businesses including a bank, livery stable, grocery store, bakery and several churches serving its residents. Soddy Daisy experienced significant growth during World War II when many local soldiers were drafted into service or sent to fight overseas. In 1945, Soddy Daisy was named one of "The Most Significant US Towns Post-War" by journalist Morrill Cooksey due to its role as a major military training ground for Knoxville's troops during World War II. After the war ended, much of the manufacturing base that had supported wartime production moved out of town; however, some industries such as paper mills continued operations until they closed around 1990. Today remains much of downtown Sodderdy's original architecture with some additions over time - such as an indoor pool - contributing to its sense of history and culture which has been preserved throughouttowns recent evolution

Soddy Daisy is located on the banks of the Cumberland River and is known for its patriotic slogans such as "Soddy Daisy—The Heart of Tennessee" and "GiveTennessee Back to the Tennesseans." The town was founded in 1892 by James Fenton and his wife Emma. The Fentons were Presbyterians who immigrated from Scotland. In 2000, Soddy Daisy's population was estimated at about 350 people. In 2002, the population had decreased to 258 people due to the economic recession; however, it has since increased again with recent development around thetown.
