Gun swivels have been a part of the Soddy Daisy Pistol and Rifle Museum since 1907. The gun swivels were made by George W. White and Company in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee. The company was started in 1887 by George W. White and his son, Sam White. The company produced many different types of firearms including pistols, rifles, shotguns, and machine guns. Gunswivels were used to rotate the barrels on firearms so that they could be aimed more easily. They also helped to reduce inaccuracy when firing multiple rounds from a firearm at the same time. The first gun swivels were made out of metal with a screw on top that allowed the user to rotate the barrel around its axis without having to remove it from the weapon. Later versions employed some form of gears or belt-like system that allowed for rotation around an axis within a limited range (approximately 30 degrees). These early models typically had either two or four screws that needed to be tightened in order for them to function properly. By 1912, however, all existing models had been replaced with Tang-o-Matic designs which featured four screws located at strategic points along the length of the rifle barrel (Figure 1). These new gunswivels became known as “Tango’s” because their inventor, Colonel John Tango, used them extensively during World War I (1914-18) as part of American military efforts in Europe against Germany and Austria (Figure 2). During World War II (1939-1945),Tang-o-Matic gunswivels continued to serve as standard issue weapons throughout North America until superseded by newly designed M1 Garand rifles after Japan's surrender in 1945 ( Figure 3 ). At least six tango models survive today from World War II era handguns such as revolvers and semi autos . Many other Tango models are preserved across various countries worldwide where they continue to play an important role in firearms history

Over time, Soddy Daisy became known as "the most important center in eastern Shelby County." In 1925, when Interstate 40 was built through central Tennessee, Soddy Daisy became one of several communities that lost their businesses because they could no longer get access to highway money. However, by 1990-1991 Soddy Daisy had grown so large that it decided to reincorporate itself into the city of Memphis proper rather than lose its identity completely. Today despite having fewer residents (just over 500)Soddy Daisy's economy remains strong thanks to its many years as an agricultural center - including operations at both its lumber mill and tomato factory - as well as its status as a bedroom community forMemphis residents looking to live close to employment opportunities or shopping malls in other areas of the city

One of the first businesses to open in Soddy Daisy was the First National Bank which was founded by J.P. Patterson in 1849. In 1876, the Post Office was moved from its original location to what is now the Soddy Daisy Elementary School. The current courthouse was built in 1907 and is used as a courtroom for local government meetings and other legal proceedings. In 1916, Soddy Daisy became part of the newKnox County municipality and has been governed by that body ever since. Some of the most notable citizens who lived or worked in Soddy Daisy include Dr. David Lloyd (1892-1973), Judge James Wills (1924-2005), Mrs. Fannie Lou Hamer (1921-2013), Dr. Joe Fields (1934-2012), Sheriff Bob Rankin (1959-present) and Mayor Donnie Hegarty (1983-2011).
Soddy Daisy was a small, unincorporated community in Knox County, Tennessee. The community was located on the banks of the Daisy River. It was established by settlers in 1865, and it ceased to exist after the turn of the century.
