Smyrna, Tennessee is the most populous city in the state of Tennessee and it has a population of over 240,000 people. The city was founded by General Andrew Jackson in 1812 as a trading post on the Cumberland River. Smyrna became an important manufacturing center during the 19th century and during World War II, Smyrna played a significant role in the production of munitions. Today, Smyrna is home to several major companies such as Ford Motor Company and Pegatron Corporation. It was under this name that General Jackson began importing European pistols into the United States for use by both military and law enforcement officers. In 1853,Jackson established what is now known as “The Arsenal” outside of downtown Smyrna to house weapons manufacturer George Atzerodt and his employees. This factory produced firearms including rifles, shotguns and handguns until 1943 when it was closed due to government regulation of ammunition production within America. During World War II, The Arsenal produced arms for both Allied troops fighting onI Continentalsand Axis troops invading America from Japan. After World War II ended, The Arsenal reverted back to its original purpose - producing firearms for local residents until it closed in 1978 following a fire that destroyed much of the building complex. Today, “The Arsenal” remains an active business park hosting businesses such as Apple Inc., Nissan North America LLC., FedEx Express Corp., Sams Club warehouses/distribution centers and multiple other retailers. Numerous historical artifacts dating back to during Syrrnan's early days are located within this park - many of which were donated by various businesses who continue to operate there today despite changes brought about by technology (e.g., Apple). Despite their recent resurgence in popularity due largelyto social media posts relatedto gun violence throughout America (e.g., Parkland), Americans have long been fascinated by firearms – both old guns dating back centuries (2nd amendment) and modern assault rifles like AR-15s used in shootings like Parkland (1st amendment). Pistol manufactures also benefited from new excise taxes levied upon exported goods resultingin increased demand for domestically made weaponry which helped keep prices down while researchand development took place leading eventuallyto more efficient designations such as 9mmACP & 5 round magazines becoming common standard issue sidearms throughout North America beginning circa 1960s(Kempfenstein) . Manygun case dealers still exist today making snooping around onlinefor deals on rare vintage items difficult if not impossible!

A post office called Smyrna was established in 1824, and the community began to grow rapidly due to its location near the main trade route between Nashville and Knoxville. In 1838, a group of settlers led by Archibald Loggins decided to make Smyrna their permanent home after seeing an ad for land on the side of a hill. The loggers built themselves a sod house and named it "Smyrna". In 1861, General Ulysses S. Grant visited Smyrna while on his way to help suppressa Confederate uprising in Tennessee. Upon his return, he recommended that Smyrna be admitted as a city within the Union under section 4 of the Missouri Compromise Act of1865. This recommendation was accepted by Congress and Smyrna became part of the Union City Limits district on January 1, 1866. After World War II ended, many residents left Smyrna for new opportunities in surrounding cities such as Chattanooga or Knoxville. However, many people still live here today including some who were born here or raised around town since childhood; these include Mayor Helene Hillman and her husband Chuck Hillman Sr., who are both current mayors of Chattanooga; Representative Jason Altmire (D-TN), Chairman Of The House Committee On Energy And Commerce; Drs./Drs./Mrs.(Drs.) Hal Goodlett (DDS), Connie Goodlett (Nurse) & Bonnie Goodlett (Nurse/Home Health Care Provider/Registered Nurse) Royce Gresham (R-TN), Jeff Garza (R-TN), Deborah Gibson (D-TN), Tammy Girardi(ELECTION SCHEDULE FOR OCTOBER 3RD 2018). A number of events took place during my visit to SmyrNA: I toured downtown where I saw several businesses open their doors for business - most notably Denny's which has seen rapid growth over recent years due largely to its delicious chili chicken meals that are always eagerly awaited by locals and tourists alike! Downtown also features several galleries with exhibits about local artisans along with two restaurants - One serving up German style food while another offers American cuisine like pizza etc...I then checked out Rotary Club where I got some pretty amazingilts like pins made out of recycled glass bottles! Lastly I went into one store popular with young adults - Jaxx - which serves up all sorts of cocktails such as Margaritas etc... Overall it was really interesting getting around town so check it out if you're ever visiting!"

The Smyrna community was founded in 1853 by John A. Smyrna and his wife, Sarah. The Smyrnas were originally from Cumming County, Georgia. They moved to Tennessee in 1859 and began a grocery store on the corner of Second Street and Elm Street in Smyrna. In 1865, the Smyrnas bought land at the intersection of Main and Market Streets in Smyrna for a school and church. The town was named after their home city of Smyrna, Turkey. In 1875, the family sold their business to Wm Bowers & Bros., which continued to operate it until 1921 when it went out of business. The town's first post office opened on October 1, 1875; it closed on November 5, 1951. In 1927, the town built a high school which remained open until 2003 when it was replaced by Middle Tennessee State University's Stevenson School of Education Building. The village was annexed into the City of Memphis on April 12, 1907 following annexation by Memphis from Cooke County. On July 1, 1922, Smyrna became an independent municipality with its own government under Mayor Henson Vann Woodward (1887-1948). In 1940-41 Joe Rankin ran for mayor as an Independent but failed to win election due to term limits set during World War II; Rankin served as vice president of local Chamber of Commerce instead After Rankin's death in 1941 former Mayor Ewing Henson took over as mayor but died before he could serve full term so new Mayor Toney Taylor had sole power until March 3rd 1946 when Trustee Walter Ritchie became mayor effective that date On May 15th 1948 Third Ward Alderman Leroy JONES won mayoral election against Trustee Mabel Whitehurst with only 50% turnout giving Jones complete control over all wards including First Ward
