They were followed by others during the 1870s when cotton production increased in that area due to newly developed irrigation systems brought over by railroads. By 1880, there were more than 1,000 residents living in Shelbyville and it had become an important trading center for farmers east of Nashville. In 1925, however, after years of growth without corresponding increase in population or services available to those living there (due to lack of transportation infrastructure), the City Council passed a resolution recommending incorporation into what would become one of Tennessee's largest cities with over 100,000 people within 10 miles (16 km). On November 2nd 1925 night – just months after becoming part of city government - Mayor A L Pope opened up his new office on Broadway Avenue and began work on developing plans for what would soon be known as "City Hall Park." The first steps towards this were taken quickly with donations from citizens - many workers who had recently moved into City Hall buildings across Broadwalk from their old businesses which they now used as meeting spaces for city council meetings and other civic functions like street cleaning etcetera Over time new buildings were added including: Administration Building (now known asnuestra Casa de Donacion) which replaced the previous Post Office building; Police Station which served both local law enforcement duties and also housed city records; Fire Station #2 which served primarily firefighting purposes; Health Department building; Library Annex which currently houses city hall museum; Water Tower where water service was initially provided to all parts of town before being turned over to municipal control following annexation Finally – but not least – City Hall itself was built using funds donated by individuals including J H Cline who played an instrumental role in helping develop land westward from City Hall park across First Street into what would become today's Southside neighborhood . From these initial steps forward until today we can see that while much has changed since 1925 - such as annexing adjacent neighborhoods - City Hall remains a significant landmark within our community .

AfterJackson's death in 1839, Mayor Chilton served two terms before retiring from office. In 1840, Mayor Chilton again served as mayor and this time helped to develop what is now known as downtown Shelbyville into a vibrant commercial district. In 1845, General William Tullahoma moved his family to Shelbyville and began establishing himself as one of the most powerful men in town. He quickly became involved in politics and went on to serve three terms as mayor before dying at age 70 years old in 1850. Following Tullahoma's death, his son William Tullahoma Jr., took over running the city until he succeeded him at age 80 years old in 1870. From 1870-1890, William Tullahoma Jr.'s son William Tullahoma III ran the city government while his grandson William Tullahoma IV worked behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly during this time period. During World War II (1941-1945), downtown Shelbyville experienced some significant growth due to war production needs; however, after 1945 many aspects of downtown were lost due to decay and neglect until they were restored in 2000 following a $10 million investment by local businessman Bruce Elledge
