In 1916, Red Bank annexation led to its incorporation as a municipality; it has since grown rapidly with an increase in housing development and retail businesses around the downtown area. On September 25, 2009, Red Bank Properties Incorporated filed for bankruptcy protection due to heavy debt loads from real estate investments over many years including failed attempts at acquiring other municipalities such as Knoxville and Murfreesboro which had been annexed into Red Bank Properties LLC., limiting its ability to pay back its loans even if it did not file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection

Red Bank is a town inHardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,835 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Memphis Metropolitan Statistical Area. Red Bank was founded by pioneer farmers John and Sarah Hardin on October 15, 1819 as a small community on a bluff above the Cumberland River. In 1829, it became part of the new county of Hardin. The post office was established in 1836 and remains in operation today. The first store in Red Bank opened in 1830 and continued to run until 1905. It was then replaced by the present day grocery store which opened its doors in 1906. The first school was built here in 1834 and continues to operate today as hardin County Schools First Grade through twelfth grade schools. A fire destroyed one building here on July 5th, 1907 but due to donations from citizens and local businesses, a new school building was erected quickly with donated materials and funds. This structure still stands today serving hardin County Schools today as Hardin Middle School! In 1916, Red Bank had 1 black resident! For many years prior to that date there were no residents of this municipality who could speak up for themselves without fear of retribution from their white counterparts or possible social ostracism from those within their own community- primarily because they did not have papers documenting their ancestry or residence within the town limits at that time! In order for any person looking for documentation about their ancestry or place of residence within this municipality prior to 1916 to do so freely without fear of retribution or social humiliation; all necessary paperwork must be submitted (original deeds/ Registrations etc.)to our Municipal Clerk's office located inside City Hall where we maintain an extensive file dating back to 1924 when only Citizens registered with us !!!!!
