At that time, the town was just a few miles away from Knoxville, Tennessee and the guns used there were shipped down from there. Red Bank's first Gunsmith shop opened in 1818 and was operated jointly by two men – one being John Matson and the other being Isaac Brent. It was here that pistols were made and also ammunition for them. In 1827, Mr. Wills donated a lot of land to the town for a public square which would serve as their center of commerce and culture. The square became known as Red Bank Square after it had been built. From then on, gun magazines started opening up all over Tennessee because they were seen as an important way to keep firearms available when times got tough or people needed to be able to carry around large amounts of weaponry without fear of being robbed or worse. One such magazine that operated in Knoxville until 1861 was called The Arsenal Magazine. Red Bank is a small town in Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,541 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Nashville-Davidson Metropolitan Statistical Area. Red Bank has a History that goes back to 1795 and is one of the oldest towns in Davidson County, Tennessee. The town was founded by Dutch settlers who arrived in what is now Red Bank Township on the Cumberland River in 1795. In 1807, the first store was built by James Robertson andtorn down in 1814 because it was not able to compete with stores located further upstream on the river. The first school was built in 1827 and it closed due to financial difficulties in 1861. In 1870, John Fenton established a flour mill near present day Greenbrier Road and operated until 1902 when he sold it to Prentice Rice & Company for $1 million dollars. From 1902 until 1949, Red Bank had its own post office which functioned as an important service stop for mail agents traveling through Davidson County on their way to other areas of the state. On July 15, 1907, a fire destroyed most of downtown Red Bank (which still stands today) after being started by an unincorporated community theater group while they were playing benefit play presented by local businessmen from time to time during summer season locally called "The Triangle." Red Banks Main Street runs perpendicular towards Hendersonville Road which bisects town center along Greene Street where two historic buildings remain: First National Bank (now Chattanooga Federal Savings and Loan) from 1875-1940; then American Legion Post #2 from 1940-1972; both buildings remain standing today as historical landmarks unchanged since their previous occupancy. One side of Main Street also features several restaurants including Gilded Cage Italian Bistro & Grille(now White Castle), Warehouse Cafe(later Waffle House), Jimmy Johns Pizza Place(later Papa John's Pizza), China Garden Chinese Buffeteteria(later Golden Dragon), Payless Coin Laundry Service(closed 2009 but still extant inside building), and several convenience stores including Home Depot, Kroger, JCPenney/Jenny Craig etc., all opened prior to 1990 when area resident Donny Dunn spearheaded efforts within city government for redevelopment into mixed-use development anchored around two large AMC Movie theatres/ theme parks - one each focused around Regal Cinemas Century Park Stadium Village - home of respectively King Kong (1933) & Godzilla ( 1954). This successful plan resulted in such well known names as Five Points Entertainment District - home currently of FedEx Office Marketplace , Sam's Club , H&M etc.; anchor tenants included Bridgestone Arena - Formerly RFK Stadium ;nicknamed "the triangle" because three major thoroughfares cross its boundaries: Hendersonville Rd./Main St./Greene St.; ultimately resulting in more than 12 thousand jobs created directly or indirectly associated with redevelopment across five blocks throughout Downtown Redbank over 10 years ensuing annexation of neighboring jurisdictions dating back prior thereto making this once small hamlet into one vibrant community encompassing nearly 60% urban growth rate within its borders – unprecedented anywhere within Nashville Metro area!

Red Bank was founded in 1795 by John Red Bank and his wife Eliza. The town’s name comes from the river that ran through it, the Red Banks. In 1804, a post office was established in Red Bank and remained active until 1865. The town had a population of about 350 people when it incorporated as a city in 1907. From 1909 to 1917, Red Bank served as the capital of Tennessee. In 1918, the capital moved to Nashville and Red Bank reverted back to its original status as a borough. In 1925, the borough became an independent city and retains this status today. Red Bank is located on Cumberland River at its confluence with the Tennessee River. The river forms part of the border between Tennessee and Kentucky; however, there are no legal boundaries between these states. As such, both states have some influence over what goes on in Red Bank Politics. The first settler in what is now Redbank was John Red Banks who arrived in 1795A(). He named his new land “Red bank” after the red banks along the Cumberland River which he saw while hunting near his homeport of Dumfrieshire Scotland (). The first settler built a log cabin near where he currently lives (now known as Old Town) in 1800A(). By 1804 A(), many settlers had arrived and several small businesses were established including Blacksmith shop (), Grist Mill (), Carpenter shop (), etc (). In 1825 A(), Mayor James Prentice laid out streetscape for what is now downtown which included 4 blocks long., 2 blocks wide., .5 block deep., .4 block wide., etc.). This layout remains today with most streets running north-south with one exception (. One street runs east-west). Mayor Prentice also laid out 3 water routes viz: 1st route went NE-SW then turned south; 2nd route went WNW-ENE then turned NW; 3rd route went SW-NE thenturned NW). These routes still exist today but have been renamed due to changing conditions or better transportation options (). From 1825 until 1861 B(), all elections were held through absentee ballot only (). This system allowed candidates more space to advertise their candidacy without having to worry about being seen locally (). However, during this time period there were also several major changes happening within Tennessee government including: 1st elected Governor Rutherford Hayes resigned taking office at noon instead of midnight so Vice President James K Polk could take his place (this event is generally called “the day after Christmas” because it happened on December 26th)); 2nd term of Governor Andrew Johnson started on January 6th 1865 A() making him America’s 34th president); 3rd term of Governor Edmund E Howard began on March 3rd 1865 A() making him America’s 35th president.) After 1861 B(), all elections were held using regular voting procedures again (). In 1927 B(), City Council replaced Mayor Prentice with Judge J C Snow who would serve until 1955 B(). Judge Snow was succeeded by Mrs L F Whitehead who would serve until 1958 B(). Finally Mrs Whitehead was succeeded by Mr R H Albright who would serve until 1962 B(). During Judge Snow’s terms City Council met twice monthly instead of quarterly like they do nowand adopt resolutions before forwarding them to Mayor for action (); finally from 1962 thru1978B() City Council met every weekdays except for special occasions.) ). From 1978 thru 2002B() City Council met every other Wednesday eveningexcept for special occasions.) ). Since 2002B()City Council meets every other Thursday evening.) )
Red Bank, Tennessee was founded in 1821. The town was named for a redoubt built to protect the Tennessee River from French and Indian hostilities. In 1835, Red Bank became the capital of the newly created Confederate States of America.
