Red Bank is a town in Knox County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,398 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Knox County. The first settlement in Red Bank was made on the banks of the Cumberland River by pioneers who came from Holston and other parts of TN in 1811. In 1814, Colonel John Sevier donated land to make a town site and named it Sevierville after himself and his father-in-law, James Sevier. Red Bank's early years were spent building homes for its residents with logs taken from nearby forests. As cotton prices soared during the 1830s and 1840s, many families moved to Red Bank to work in factories or fields. By 1850, most of Red Bank's citizens had left for better opportunities elsewhere in TN or Kentucky due to high prices and low production values of cotton bolls inTN at that time. In 1865, what is now known as State Route 4 was completed linking Red Bank withKnoxville via State Route 3B (now US 13). This important connection helped spur economic development within Knox County which continued until about 1930 when communication lines became more accessible and transportation costs increased making it difficult for small towns like Red Bank to compete against larger cities.

Red Bank is a small town in Davidson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,564 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1871 by General James Robertson and named for his Red River Valley home of Red Banks. Red Bank is located on the banks of the Red River, about 20 miles (32 km) west of Nashville. It is bordered to the east by Buena Vista and to the west by Lebanon. The first permanent settler in Red Bank was General James Robertson, who arrived there in 1871. He named his new community after his home state's capital city—the red banks of that name are located near where Red Bank now stands. Robertson died in 1875 but his wife continued to live and raise their children here until her death in 1902. She had married General John Fenton when he arrived from Kentucky two years earlier with plans to settle down and start a family. In 1876, Fenton sold land east of Red Bank to Joseph Greenfield for $1,000 (). Greenfield built a log cabin which served as both his home and store until 1901; he also began construction on what would become known as "The Greenfields", an early cotton gin/mill complex which still stands today on property adjoining current-day White Oak Lane. Settlement increased rapidly around this time due to advances in railroad construction and irrigation development downstream along the Cumberland River (then called "The Tennessean"). This growth together with increasing religious enrollment helped contribute to the nickname "Downtown Dixie" given to Red Bank during its early years due chiefly to its location within easy walking distance of several churches including First Baptist Church (founded 1792), Methodist Episcopal Church (1801), Presbyterian Church (1811), Gothic Revival styled Zion Chapel (1838), Antioch Bible Chapel(1868) and modern day Good News Christian Center (). In 1907, following incorporation into county government as a town under commission formality (), red bank voted unanimously not only against annexation by neighboring Williamson County but also unsuccessfully opposed ratification of an act establishing Nashville Municipal Airport one mile south of town limits (). Afterward local officials worked feverishly -and successfully-to rebuild business practices following that airport's opening six years later while also creating tourism attractions such as Old Fort Nashville National Historic Site just outside town limits (). Today much of what once made upred bank--a mix of commercial strips surrounding downtown streets filled with strip malls housing large chains like Walmart (), KFC (), Chick-fil-A () and Starbucks ()--still exists although some buildings have been replaced or relocated over time including most notably The Gold Mine Hotel & Casino which replaced most demolished structure from original site’s days as “New Orleans Hotel & Casino” prior thereto (). Despite ongoing efforts by various stakeholders over many years numerous cracks have appeared throughout much or all aspects thereof thereby leading eventually -in less than five short decades since its inception –to complete demolition/replacement/renovation albeit without general public input or awareness resulting ultimately in an utter loss for taxpayers/$27 million dollars
