This site became known as “the Armory” because it served as one of the main firing grounds for artillery units during both World Wars I and II. From 1922 until 1959, this site also served as home to The Nashville Municipal Shooting Club which offered Monthly matches with various firearm disciplines such as rifle shooting, pistolslinging, shotgunning and more! However due toiennextenuating circumstances such as wars fought nearby (such as1848 War between USand Mexico), market saturation caused prices on goods to rise above costs associated with production processes instead leading merchants to abandon Downtown Natchez completely during this time frame; however it wasn’t until 1860 when construction started on what wouldbecome historic Third Ward Theatre becoming oneofthe centerpiecesof Downtownerslifeduring thisperiod[11]; meanwhile across Main Street brick buildings continuedto be erected providing warehousing space for businesses up until about 1870 when incorporation laws steamrolling African Americans turned those properties into public works projects providing employment opportunities for white collar workers while excluding African American residents from voting rights [12][13][14][15].
