On July 12 of that year, Forrest’s cavalry attacked Union soldiers outside of town; six men were killed and twenty-four others wounded before he retreated without achieving any plunder or casualties. Afterward, Forrest vowed to never surrender without receiving assurances from President Lincoln that all Confederate prisoners would be released unconditionally. On May 1st 1863, Union forces commanded by Brigadier General George Appedge attacked Confederate positions near Murfreesboro; five men were killed and twenty-one others wounded before they withdrew again without achieving any plunder or casualties. On July 1, 1870 Nashville & Chattanooga Railway completed its trackage through Murfreesboro (then part of Jackson) and began operations; this railway led directly to the development of downtown Nashville as we know it today! In 1907 Drury Lane Theater opened its doors as America's first movie theater chain with movies starting at $1 per ticket! That same year saw also the opening of First National Bank building which still stands today and has served as a grocery store and restaurant location since then! In 1911 murphysboro incorporated as a city under state law #362; however like many other pioneer cities throughout Tennessee it struggled during World War I with little business activity aside from ambulance services What did start as small businesses quickly became major league businesses during wartime times such as making uniforms for troops and selling munitions products! After prohibition ended following World War I things started to improve with more businesses beginning up including restaurants like White Sands Coffee House which served breakfast all day long until 1942 when they closed because of bombings!!! During these years much change took place within our community with new homes being erected along Liberty Ave & Main St while older homes were sold or given away for free!!
