This event has been immortalized by General George Custer's ride into town to meet with local farmers about cattle drives during that same period in history. On October 15th 1802, General Jackson ordered Brigadier General John Pemberton to take command of all resources from Nashville southward and eastward until relieved by MajorGeneral James K Polk who then took command of all forces northward and westward until relieved by LieutenantGeneral Pyke on December 12th 1802. On November 8th 1803 President Jefferson Davis placed Fort Sumter under Siege by Confederate Admiral Robert E Lee but Union forces drove them out before they could land any troops or artillery and deliver significant damage to Confederate defenses which effectively ended the war for America. Murfreesboro began as a small community located on Cumberland Gap Road about three miles northwest of downtown Nashville near what is now Riverbend Park Cemetery where early pioneer settlers buried their dead during winter months when there was no warm climate inside the hotel building which still stands today complete with its original red brick exterior walls and white marble entablature (now part of Riverbend Park). In 1865 two enterprising citizens - Gouverneur Kroupa & Solomon Weed - organized a company of watermen known as The Knights of Columbus to provide transportation between points along the Cumberland Gap Railroad which would later become I-565 highway corridor across Tennessee Valley countryside connecting Murfreesboro with Chattanooga, Johnson City and Knoxville; their enterprise became known as The Transconect Railroad Company which completed its first trip from Knoxville to Lebanon Junction on November 5th 1865; today many people refer to this journeyulu

Murfreesboro is a city in Tennessee and the county seat of Campbell County. The population was 97,752 at the 2010 census, making it the second most populous city in Tennessee after Memphis. The Murfreesboro area has been inhabited by humans for over 10,000 years. The first white European to arrive in what is now Murfreesboro was James Robertson on July 25, 1796. He came with his family from Edinburgh, Scotland. In 1814, General Andrew Jackson set up a military post here as part of his campaign against Native Americans known as the Indian Wars. After victory over the Indians at New Madrid Bridge on November 16, 1814 became official U.S. history and Murfreesboro became an important trading center during this time period. The town was founded by General John Sevier on October 12, 1819 when he sold land to settlers near modern-day downtown Murfreesboro for $300 per acre (1/6th of a mile). On December 3rd of that year, Sevier led a force numbering 350 men against 4 Cherokee warriors who had attacked his colony east of present-day Chattanooga. This event is considered to be one of the first successful attacks by white man on Native American territory in North America and marked the beginning of what would become an ongoing conflict between whites and Native Americans in Tennessee Valley region throughout much of 19th century United States history
Murfreesboro was founded in 1819 by the brothers James and John Murfreesboro. The town was named for General Andrew Murfreesboro, who fought in the American Revolution. It became a city in 1907 and has since grown to be a busy commercial center with a population of over 100,000.
