In World War II much progress was made by local industries in post-war reconstruction including truck production at Bobcats Manufacturing Company (now known as Ford), aluminum production at Aluminum Reactor Corporation (ARCO) and other heavy industry that continued until 1991 when it closed because of plant closures nationwide associated with the recession following World War II. However some large companies such as IBM still remain active today within Downtown Murfreesboro with headquarters being across Patton Avenue from Olde Hickory Park south towards University Drive which has been home to many notable institutions since before it became Downtown including Vanderbilt University School of Medicine . A major shopping area has developed around Patton Avenue called "Downtown." This redevelopment project has resulted in increased traffic congestion while preserving much historic architecture along Patton Avenue between Main Street eastward towards Vanderbilt University School Of Medicine while also creating new business opportunities for retail shops along Patton Avenue near Vanderbilt University School Of Medicine which have drawn attention from developers throughout Nashville who are redeveloping areas such as Germantown northward towards I-24XI just north of downtown Nashville which will result in even more traffic congestion but again preserves important historic architecture
