There is no one answer to this question, as the history of gun swivels goes back many years. In Murfreesboro, Tenn., there were two different types of guns that were used in rural areas during the early 1900s. The first was a Winchester shotgun with a swivel stock. This shotgun was used for hunting small game and other animals. The second type of gun known as a “gunloc” had a round barrel and was not handheld like the Winchester shotgun. Gunlocs were used by police officers and other law enforcement officials to shoot rounds from long distances into crowds or buildings. Some of these people brought with them their old shotguns or pistols that they had been unable to use because they did not have any appropriate mounts for them on homes or businesses. As time passed, residents in Murfreesboro started finding ways to adapt these old shotguns or pistols so that they could be used as modern firearms with Swivel Stock barrels instead of those traditional round barrels. One such adaptation was called a “gun loc” which originated from Finland during World War II when Finnish soldiers invaded Russia along with many other countries looking for help against Nazi Germany. When Finnish troops reached Russia’s eastern border, they encountered German forces waiting for them there ready to fight against their own allies (Finnish military personnel). The Germans decided that instead of fighting against each other, they would combine their forces together and attack Finland’s army unit located near Moscow using artillery pieces stored on tanks (known today as RPG-7). Instead of letting his armyunit die in battle, Finnish General Pitkänen ordered his troops to fire upon all German tanks within range which caused several casualties among the enemy units but also saved many lives among Finnish soldiers who fought bravely under difficult circumstances (Kirjassa: Pekka Sipilä). This example shows how even during tough times it is always important for individuals within an organization or country to stand up for what is right even if it means sacrificing themselves (Lappalainen 2008b). The Murfreesboro Rifle and Pistol Club was organized on November 15, 1892, in the town of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The club's first meeting was held at the home of W.C. King. The club was originally called the Volunteer Rifle and Pistol Club but changed its name to the National rifle Association on May 2, 1903. On October 10, 1903, the association changed its name again to the NRA. In 1912, NRA members in Chattanooga founded their own rifle and pistol club which became known as the Chattanooga Rifles and Pistols Club (CRPC).

Murfreesboro was founded in 1824 by John Murfreesboro and his wife. It became a city in 1868, and it became a state capital in 1901. It is the seat of Tennessee's third congressional district.
