This law was repealed in 1868, but a new ordinance restricting gun possession did not take effect until 1870 because of lack of ratification from the state government. A second ordinance regulating handguns was passed in 1871, and it similarly banned the carrying of pistols without a license from anyone over 21 years old. It is interesting to note that this ordinance only applied to handguns; rifles and shotguns were not regulated at this time. In 1881, an amendment to the Tennessee Constitution allowed people over 21 years old to purchase and possess rifles and shotguns without having to obtain a license from their local sheriff or police officer. In 1902, another amendment increased statewide hunting opportunities by allowing citizens between 21-25 years old to purchase hunting licenses for up to three days per week during certain months of the year (i.e., October through April). These licenses allowed civilians who could afford them access to shoot deer, turkey, elk, rabbit, squirrels, etc., which had been considered off-limits under previous regulations. In 1922 amendments added restrictions on magazine capacity (now 10 rounds), type of ammunition (now metallic jacketed projectile) can be used (rifle only), age requirements for purchasing licenses (now 25 years old instead of 21 years old), handgun calibers (now 7mm Remington Magnum instead of .22 Winchester rifle caliber), number of rounds per mag allowed (currently 2 rounds per magazine), double action revolver now requires 4 round magazine instead of 3 round magazine like before due to new safety features introduced with this weapon during World War II Era In 1934 an act increasing gun registration requirements took effect statewide; this act required all citizens aged 16 or older who possessed a pistol or shotgun within 500 yards into register with the police department within 24 hours following acquisition thereof free of charge as well as location information including fingerprints if requested by law enforcement officials upon request during any criminal investigation or when making an arrest.). As a result, many firearms that had been legally possessed by individuals between 16-25 years old were seized by authorities pursuant since 1934 pursuant to Act No.; 615th General Assembly Session §2(a)(1)). However interestingly enough some weapons such as revolvers still retained their individual owner’s rights even after being registered thus providing firearm protection against arbitrary seizure by authorities should future laws restrict citizen’s right TO own such weapons despite current registrations status!
