Mount Juliet, Tennessee is a small town located in Union County, Tennessee. The population of Mount Juliet was 2,471 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chattanooga–area. The first permanent settler in what would become Mount Juliet was James Robertson in 1819. He and his family built a cabin on the mountain and named it after his homeport of Liverpool, England. Robertson's brother-in-law, John C. Swanton, also founded a settlement in 1821 near present day Mount Juliet while he traveled through Union County on business. Swanton named his community after John Sutter who had founded Sacramento California in 1849 before moving to Oregon where he found gold in 1850. Mount Juliet remained unincorporated until 1861 when it became one of twelve townships within the new Union County government created to provide for the expanding city of Chattanooga. In 1865, during the American Civil War, Confederate General Joseph Ewell decided that Chattanooga was too exposed to attack and ordered his army to retreat northeast towards Knoxville so as not to alarm Richmond. This move caused much commotion throughout the state because Knoxville lay just across the state line from both Nashville and Memphis which were Confederate strongholds respectively – something that Chattanooga never forgot about! Eventually Mount Juliet emerged as an important military staging ground for operations against Damascus Mountain outside of Knoxville during this time period; however most activity ceased around 1870 when railroads arrived making production more efficient ashore rather than up there on the mountain where mining took precedence over agriculture/military importance etc.. In 1895 local school superintendent Jno Pritchard opened a private school here which continued operation until 1963 when it merged with two other schools forming one comprehensive school district (Chattanooga USD) which still operates today!

This allowed firing large numbers of rounds per minute without having to reloading often and this led to increased accuracy during wars because less ammunition was needed

Mount Juliet was founded by Methodist missionaries in 1838 and became a coal mining town in the late 19th century. The town had an estimated population of 4,500 in 1990 but has declined since then to 2,924 as of the 2010 census.
