Mount Juliet, Tennessee is a small town in Blount County, Tennessee. The population was 2,813 at the 2010 census. It lies on the eastern edge of the Knoxville metropolitan area and is located about 15 miles (24 km) east of downtown Knoxville. The community began as a log cabin settlement in 1809 near what is now Mount Juliet Elementary School. A post office was established there in 1821 and renamed Mount Juliet after the nearby mountain peak that became known for its beauty. By 1870, the population had grown to 1,500 and by 1910 it had reached 3,000. The economic base of the community has always been agriculture but since 2000 it has also become an center for technology development with several high-tech companies locating there.
